I’ve been a big fan of the owners but this is worrying. They said last year about how many players they could bring in on Cattermoles wages sounds like all mouth now very disappointing, 100 points you’re having a laugh.

Disagree that there is a lot of work to do, we finished just a few points of automatic promotion with a cobbled together side who had only just met each other when the season kicked off........They all now have a season of playing at the SOL which must be a huge learning curve for young uns and most of the team. They have a season getting to know each others games and Ross has a season under his belt too......There is no reason to think that we cannot turn some of those draws into wins and go up automatically, with or without a massive rebuilding program. Said at the start of the summer that we need a few key additions, coupled with getting some of the top earners off the books.....Ruiter, Matthews and Catts going is a good start, Oviedo going would be a great summer........Then we need those few key players in and happy days.

Then we will get to see how good a coach he is I guess.
Ruiter and Matthews have been replaced with free transfer on paupers wages in comparison, so where has the deficit gone? Cattermoles wages were astronomical for this league the wage bill most have come down about 40k a week easily already.

I notice the article says we might be in for George Dobson from Walsall. Yet another midfielder:rolleyes:, where we are so overloaded that a young Academy prospect like Embleton seems wary of signing a contract because he is likely to spend time warming the bench. On the up-side, Dobson played at centre-back when he was a youth at Arsenal, so we might finally get a centre-back who can pass the ball. Ever the optimist;)!

This is why Ross wants to sell before we bring in. The squad is bloated.

Dobson is a completely different player to Embleton though. We need to improve the quality throughout the first team, midfield included.

Always seems a false economy as once teams know you need to fill a place they up the valuation.
Unless he just wants a smaller squad?...

The bigger problem is, selling to buy, only means you lose your best players and you're left with the shit, Sunderland's transfer policy as always been a mess, from as long as I can remember, they never, ever f***ing learn.

That's not what Ross has said, or the owners. How many times.

"Ross wants a smaller squad but with more quality and with more pace and strength added".

So tell me, how is he going to achieve this?
He wants a smaller squad. He doesn't say that we can't afford to add the quality without selling. He just wants to avoid it becoming even more bloated.

The issue isn't money, as the owners have also said, it's Ross' preference.

I'll believe that when I see it and if we do add to the squad, hows he going to move the players that are surplus on? it doesn't add up, no fucker want's the shite we have, there's maybe three or four players that will move and it won't be the ones we want to move.

Were you saying the same in January when we then bought Grigg. Who, despite how it turned out, was the number 1 target and cost a small fortune.

And most of League One and Two are full of shite players mate. Clubs will want the shite we've got because believe it or not there are worse, and for once most of ours aren't on ridiculous wages anymore.

Grigg and Wyke were stupid signings, both injured £4m for Grigg was crazy, what was it 800k a goal? clever business that, the people that sanctioned these deals are suppose to be football people, the fans said at the time it was stupid and so it proved to be, it proved when we were relegated that no one was interested in any of the shite we had, that's why we payed to let Cattermole go, and there's one or two still on ridiculous wages for this league and no one from the league above would touch them with a shitty stick, pull your head out of your arse and look around, the clubs in a mess of it's own making and that's because we continually buy chod for over inflated prices, fortunate for you, you'll gain a little experience from watching just how much we reclaim from our two strikers when they are finally moved on.

So when I said 'despite how Grigg turned out' you chose to ignore that part?

My point was, you'll have been crying about us not having money to spend in January when that wasn't the case. Just like you're moaning about it now, even when told different from the owners, again.

Likewise Catts was on a huge wage, which again I pointed out is no longer a problem for us with the most of the squad rightly on realistic League 1 and 2 wages meaning clubs around us can afford them.

I take what the owners say with a pinch of salt.
That's fair enough mate. But everyone has taken what Ross has said to be a direct contradiction when it just lines up with everything he's said previously about preferring to work with a smaller squad.

 I've never shed a tear in my life about football, and I'm not moaning, I'm telling you the way it is, and why it's that way, I'm not bothered about big money signings, I'd prefer to build a team of young dedicated players, but of course that won't happen, and SAFC will plod on in the usual manner of paying top dollar for utter chod, 62 years of supporting this basket case of a club and it's not changed and I can't see it changing any time soon.;)
