Self checkouts in Aldi

Had self service in an Aldi near work for a while now, great when you’ve only got a few things (beer, cereal and something random from the middle aisle you didn’t plan for and don’t need)

Folk might need to factor in this is taking jobs from folk, one of the very points the railworkers are striking in their sector 🤔

Not sure if Aldi or Lidl, but the big new one in Peterlee had the self checkout, but no staff working on them. So when something needed staff to check/fix, you had to wait for an eternity for them to finish with the customer on the main till, and leave and walk over to you.
It was a disaster.

They took them out rather than fix the problem!

This is what gets me....they have either no one or one person for 20 self service tills (not always). Tesco in Durham is a nightmare as they have security tags on loads of things. They are either dealing with other people or busy talking to colleagues in my experience. So you lose the time saving of self service.

I know one of the strike things is about folk losing token jobs and I also know they were on about the driver being responsible for the doors closing or such like Other than that yep I'm none the wiser and just joined the dots, 😂 A train type will be along soon to correct if incorrect, but yes ultimately I don't know for sure.
I’m arguing but don’t know what about, loud noises!

Mrs Coat (no) - walked out of Lidl's at the Prospect when there was only the self service till open.
She asked for a till with a human being on to serve her, but was told by a staff member that they were all too busy.
She just dumped her basket on the deck, and walked away.
Amazing they would dream of saying this. Encourage her to use self service, then just serve the customer if not imo.

Loads of places have gone downhill in terms of customer service. Always surprised when a little shop has 3-4 people on shift and only one till on, resulting in queues being watched by staff. It looks terrible to a customer.

World famous Owldie early bird analysis there. He gets straight to the heart of the matter, no fluff, no sense
