Self checkouts in Aldi

Me too, been won over since Asda and Morrisons started milking inflation to the hilt. One thing though, Aldi's chicken breasts look like an axe murderer packaged them. Compared to Morrisons for example which look like someone has spent a bit of time packaging the meat.

You get what you pay for I suppose.
Aye a few things in Aldi i do avoid and one of them is there chicken breasts cos they havent been the best but a lot of good things in there

They’ve been in new aldis for ages like
Well this was Stanley and they weren’t there last week so I’m claiming newsworthy.
Are these places much cheaper than Tesco / Asda etc?
Apparently so. If I’m doing a big shop I still go to Tesco, cos the choice is much better. I use Aldi for the bi- nightly 5 items shop, hence why I’m celebrating the self checkout, as I don’t wish to queue.

I reported the checkout assistant for GBH the way she handled my food. Absolutely battered when I put it in the bags.

They’re only good if people are still on the checkouts . I was in Stanley aldi earlier and their was loads of people putting trolleys full of shit through self service and not one person on a checkout so took ages 🤷‍♀️

For some things they are but their ranges and stock levels are are typically smaller as the stores aren't so big. I don't think I'd be able to do a "big shop" in Aldi but it's useful for stocking up on cupboard-fillers.

I wait longer in ALDI than I do in Lidl. Lidl has self checkout, ALDI doesn’t.

There’s also a Lidl a little further away with no self-checkout. I wait longer in that Lidl than my closest Lidl.

Self-checkouts make things faster.

Not if you've got a trolley full.
The self scan your stuff as you walk round is an absolute godsend in Asda. Bish, bash, bosh, round and out the shop in as minimal time as possible
This. It was great at Christmas. Huge queues everywhere and no queues at scan and go

How often do you have a trolley full and self checkouts are the only option? Tbf I do enjoy an 11pm Tesco shop, and that happens a lot but I’m never in a rush at 11pm.

I would never use the self check with a trolley.

They have special self check trolley bays now.

Depends how deep the trolley is, are you using the shallow 80 litre trolley or a 180 litre behemoth there Andrew?

I’d take the 80 litre shallow type to a self checkout but not the big one. I don’t think I’ve ever actually used one of those massive trolleys, would be like trying to drive a lorry. Not for me.
