Seiko Divers Watch... I think Kinetic

It's my brother's birthday next week and I want to get my brother a Seiko Divers' Watch I think it was kinetic.

Over 20 years ago we had a fight over one of these and he won a card game to decide and I ended up with a not so good one.

I am looking at the ones on offer today and they don't look so right.

Blue face I think with some red. I get confused as mine was similar but automatic.

Have they changed the design?

Where is the best place to shop for these?

lots of sellers of New Seikos on ebay all legit I purchased a gen 1 Automatic Monster 200 meters waterproof maybe worth a look FWIW the monster back then was 140. 99 and its fetching at leas a 100 more nowadays

Seiko Prospex Kinetic 200m Divers Date Display SKA759P1 - First Class Watches™

This looks right thanks

I just bought an Oris Aquis as a gift for someone yesterday. I got a great deal on what is a beautiful divers watch.

It is a particular model I'm looking for for sentimental reasons.

You probably want something like the SKX009K2. It’s automatic though, not kinetic.

I’d steer clear of kinetic personally.

Why? Is automatic better?

I just remember my brother particularly liking the kinetic aspect

This. Had a Tag kinetic and it was a pain, unless you wear it 24/7. Got a Seiko solar powered now and it's been spot on.

Aye I got a Seiko PADI solar - retail about $350 for $160 off eBay. This was to replace my 20 year old Luminox Navy Seals watch which must have bust a spring bar and fell in the drink while I was about to jump in.

I actually use it for diving and it’s more or less bullet proof. May replace the bezel with a Pepsi just to liven it up a bit but it’s a cracking watch for the price.

This may not be exactly what you’re looking for Cat but if there’s a plan B you can’t go wrong with one of these or an orange monster.

Tex, was it you I bought the Sturmanskie watch from for my dad? If so, the daft shite has cracked the face. Know anywhere we can get it replaced?

Sozz marra I did sell a Sturmanskie on here but forgot it was you.

Nee idea about the glass unless you take it to a specialist who may be able to source one. Other than that I’d just be googling for answers.

I do have a sweet Mont Blanc GMT Timewalker for sale if he wants a replacement watch!;)

Have a search on eBay (some reputable sellers now) or google “Seiko Sumo” ......they are a Japanese variant, fully automatic 200m divers watch. A few outfits import them but still hard to come by. A relative bargain as better than the uk watches and some say are better quality than an omega sea master at a fraction on the cost. Blue or black dial.

This is the one my brother used to have

I'll give that a look thanks :D

I’ve got a few watches but my Seiko kinetic is my favourite.

I can leave it for days and when I pick it up the pointers automatically spin around to the correct time. Never fails to amaze.

Good choice Cat.
