Secret Footballer says players are running safc!

To be more accurate, Nemo, it started with Quinny. It won't be a popular opinion on here but I really do believe that the toxic dressing room we have at SAFC is down to SNQ in the main. His obsession with bringing in a certain type of character and his slavish devotion to trying to recreate the atmosphere of the Reidy/Romanos days has been the single thread that runs through the dressing room over the past 7 seasons.

Pretty harsh imo. He backed his managers to the hilt, they chose the players.

What about after Quinny left and he had no say?
The ringleaders pretty much all came in under his watch, though. Plus, the atmosphere had been set. You then make a choice either to bring in players who fit in with it (Graham, Johnson, Fletcher) or you go radio rental and take them all on (a la PDC).

He backed them to the hilt, true. Past the hilt really (which is another argument entirely). However, he was extremely keen with his "certain type of character" mantra. All through his tenure he referred to the Reid era - when our team and methods were an anachronism even then - and I beleive it is reasonable to conclude that he had an influence. If not directly in terms of player purchases then indirectly in his choice of managers.

He was, definitely. Then again he let his managers but Chimbonda, Diouf etc. As I said I think its very harsh to blame Quinn for it.

No because he doesn't use the same methods to piss people off like Paolo did. It's the two together that's the problem. I did agree with some of his points about the players, but he was naive in the way he went about implementing his ideas. He was also very poor and naive tactically and I also didn't see much evidence of us being any fitter under him either.

You didn't notice the weight falling off Sess? According to many on here he's at least questioned player's attitudes and has also shown tactical naivety.

Whatever the truth of it there is obviously something going on with the players and it must be the dressing room for a few years now.

They turn up when they want to.

Improve then back to type.

Lack professional.

Lack discipline.

Of course the other perspective is Bruce, MON, PDC and Poyet are all to blame for the same failings.

I just get the sense the players are untouchable and act like it, too many of them in on it.

Paolo drove him to the drink

I accept that for many he would be difficult to work with. :D Clearly an obsessive and extremely demanding character and naive enough to expect the same level of commitment from everyone associated with the club. Obviously not everyone's cup of tea, even I can understand that, but as I've said before, I'd love to have played for him.[DOUBLEPOST=1396444554][/DOUBLEPOST]
Aye he was drink driving while the rest of the team were involved in a home cup tie.............. ;)

Got the clam on after enduring a week or two without a pint.

When things are going well I'd imagine he'd be great to play for.

Problem is hes an unstable lunatic......before the end of last season there were clear signs of trouble when he in the press slagging players such as O'Shea off when performance related stuff should always be kept behind closed doors........

No question, going poorly he'd be a mare for the namby pamby little lambs we have masquerading as footballers, I'd have laughed and gave him a cuddle, the mad little Italian bastard.
