What? When he already had 60-odd and is already a proven Test match player rather than a player as yet unproven, with question marks over his technique and his attitude to practise? Yeah, that's the same thing

I think he probably deserves a few tests in the summer just to fully make sure, this is purely down to how good and important he is to the team, if there were players banging the door down he should probably be dropped after this series

Should be nowhere near being dropped lack of alternatives and a few in this side need replacing before him

So, you agree that Cook should be replaced? Good question about replace him with who but that's why the selectors get paid. Stoneman is not doing himself any favours I agree with his footwork. See in Test Cricket now, nobody wants to open the batting anymore, nobody can stand there and mentally tough it out. They all want the glory.

Cook has one of the best jobs in the world getting paidto bat a few overs the stand in slip when fielding. Knowing the liklihood he is ever replaced is nil due to the choice behind him

I'd stick with Stoneman at the start of the summer too, he has got the character, he showed than in the Ashes, he stood up to some very hostile periods, just never kicked on

I think Hameed will play in Sri Lanka next winter, but I don't fancy him against quick bowling

Cook has been England's greatest ever test batsmen. I think he deserves a bit of respect

Glad you said that about Stoneman cos he was mentally tough in The Ashes. Hameed deserves a chance imo. If you don' t try, we will never find out. I think since Root has taken over as Test Captain we have became a bit reserved?
