Second Test - England v West Indies

He's average at County level, maybe that's why?

34 FC average....I'm out. No it's not based on one innings either, he's not an international class player, he's got a chance because the shelf is virtually empty currently.

He hasnt been average at county level for four seasons. I'm not convinced he'll be international class but that's a separate argument

Two England batsmen are having a great day, Gary Ballance and Alex Hales.

I'd certainly be happy to see Hales given another go but would rather see Buttler in than Ballance

Butter isn't good enough, when are we gonna stop spouting this absolute myth that he can bat in the top 5

Don't like how Stoneman is getting labeled with the rest of them

He's had 2 dismissals including one unplayable ball

How is that a fair assessment.

How the fuck is Boycott still on the BBC, will he ever just SHUT UP

So annoying, Never stops moaning

Based on one innings??? Ffs

I would

Because that's the way it works. Surely you know that by now. Jennings was under the spotlight the first innings of the summer. Despite the fact he'd scored a century and a fifty in his first two games.

Boycott is a legend. There's plenty that want sacking from TMS before him.

No he's not he's a complete and utter wanker and he's unlistenable too. Should have been sacked years ago he's a dinasour

All his references are 40 years old

We actually have no idea about our batting lineup do we?

It's been so scatter gun

From the youngster Hammeed to the form player in Jennings to the older county pro like Westley, Malan or Stoneman

How many batsmen have we tried since our last success, which has been Root as a pure batsman. That was 5 years ago

Google tells me I can include
Duckett, Vince, Hales, Lyth, Robson, Borthwick (albeit 1 test) and Ballance in addition to those above

Going back pre Root we have

Compton, Taylor (would have come good imo), Morgan and Carberry

That's debuts this decade. And all bar Root and an unlucky Taylor have been f***ing shit

All rounders have bailed us out

So you bat him 6. Who bats 5?

Stokes for me. I've wanted him to go up the order for a good while. He's more than capable of batting top 5 and with Woakes available I think his bowling workload will be reduced

Just seen the replay of Stoneman's dismissal ...... good ball .... I'm not going to write him off on the basis of that

He does. But averages are still hugely important and indicative of class

A bit but too much

I've lost coUnt of how many times him, bairstow, Ali sacrificed their wickets when trying to set a declaration score

They don't play for their averages
