Season tickets

I think the club should be doing more to earn the supporters money, but that's just me footballs a business now and has been for sometime, and like all business, it has to follow the will of its customers, however the question is what sort of product is on display.

Ultimately as we drop and the flow of cash from foreign tv markets falls away, the club will have little choice then to look at its fan base as a source on income. Hopefully that sees the start of rebuilding relations between the club and supporters, instead of hawking itself out to foreign consumers and markets. Hopefully. Same applies to most EPL and Championship clubs.

It’s all rumour, but I was told north stand would be c450 (basically 20 quid a match)

Again mate, just a rumour, but I was told yesterday they are closing all the upper tier to save money.

Makes sense to me. How many does the lower bowl hold?

Average cheapest season ticket in L1 is £280 then, which is just over £12 a game. Given that tickets are generally more expensive in the south, it's shouldn't be all that unrealistic tbf.

If we’re currently paying around £20 a game in concession areas on a standard season card getting it down to £10 looks extremely unlikely though.

I wonder what has caused the product to be devalued....certainly not the season ticket prices. If we want to use market forces arguments to set our season ticket prices it doesn't lead to putting them up does it? Understand what you are saying, but the product needs improving if people are going to pay for it, just like anything else.

It's indisputable that we have enough fans to fill the SoL if there's enough happening on the pitch to attract them, almost regardless of what division we're in...we've had plenty of sell outs in the Championship after all and I dare say it's even possible in L1 occasionally, and while there are some costs associated with a larger crowd (stewarding, policing) they are a drop in the ocean really compared to the benefit of a big crowd and probably also the additional revenue gained from the shop/refreshments etc.

Therefore if you're going to use market forces you should aim to set the ST prices at whatever it takes to fill the ground. You then end up with a situation where people buy STs because they have to if they want to guarantee a seat, and then prices can be adjusted to suit.

I don't necessarily think that this would work to the extent that the SoL would be filled by slashing prices, but it's worth considering. Perhaps something a little more creative too: adult prices reduced heavily for those renewing or buying by a deadline, or for those committing to two seasons perhaps? 10 free matchday tickets for friends with each ST?

The club should be applauded for what they have done with season cards, but they have royally fucked up with their overall ticketing policy and they are now paying the price.

The cheap tickets which they offered to fill the SOL for TV reasons whilst we were in the PL, created a situation where people wrongly believed they would be better off without a season card (especially as the standard of football went down). Of course, despite the rumours of "free tickets galore", there wasn't that many and fans have just drifted away after refusing to pay the normal match price of £25-30.

I have said this for a number of years now, but the cheap match tickets need to stop. Yes, reward loyalty with well priced season tickets (mine is £350 in the north stand which is spot on really), but the £10 offers should be a thing of the past.

With regards to increases this year; I firmly believe it would be suicide.

Ultimately as we drop and the flow of cash from foreign tv markets falls away, the club will have little choice then to look at its fan base as a source on income. Hopefully that sees the start of rebuilding relations between the club and supporters, instead of hawking itself out to foreign consumers and markets. Hopefully. I sit on the premier concourse and i've said it on here before, i don't see the point in closing it. I pay £500 for my season ticket, but i probably only get to 80% of games due to work. But i'm prepared to pay that for the view i get of the game, i can rock up on kick off, get a pint at half time without much hassle and have a chat with those around me, who i've got to know over the years.

If they close the concourse i'll still go when i can but i won't renew my sesson card. Talking to some around where i sit, a lot are of the same opinion.

Doesn't make sense
They should close it to new applicants. Let the people who sit up there stay there if they want. Bit like matchday sales atm.

One of the (many) things SAFC have failed at over the last 20 years is taking enough money through the gate. We're miles behind similar sized/rival clubs in terms of our gate revenue despite our crowds being right up there for the most part and it is something that needs addressed.

I think a price freeze or even a small increase would be fair enough and I'd charge under 16s £150 (£6.50 per match) across the stadium. Gate money will be more crucial than ever next season and the fact is that we need to maximise it.

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

That just can't be true. Not doubting you mind but if it was £450 in the north stand that would be a £100 increase, that's what, about 30%? Now I know our club seems to be on a quest to find new and exciting ways to fuck everything up but even they can't reach that level of incompetence can they?

If they did put prices up by £100 almost no one would renew imo. Thankfully I could afford it but tbh with that much of a rise I might well refuse on account that it's taking the f***ing piss. They're already, in the Championship, having to do numerous cheap deals to try and get people in, they can't seriously expect people to pay a big increase upfront next season when we might well be in league one. That, for me, would be worth protesting about

:lol::lol::lol::lol:

For a league one game I would not expect to pay more than £10.

That’s a bit over the top the other way. It’s £5 to watch amateur sides and over £10 to watch non league.

£15 a game is about right for a season card. £20 for a match day ticket
