Season tickets

I'm really hoping it's a false rumour but it's decent posters saying it's happening. Honestly don't know what I'd do if there was a big rise. I've always considered myself someone who would always renew as long as I could afford it but if my card goes from £350 to £450 as has been mooted I'd have a big decision to make. I'm fortunate that I could afford it but it would be absolutely taking the piss and I'm not convinced I'd want to go along with it.

Renewals will take another big hit next season anyway, even if we stay up, since this season has been so poor. Some renewed hoping we'd actually win a few, they'll be off, others have just got sick of it as the season has gone on. If there's a substantial price rise, however, there will be very few season ticket holders left because it would be blatantly taking the piss. If it happens it is definitely something I would protest about and try to get discussed in the media. I'm angry just at the suggestion, only hope the next few weeks proves the rumours to be baseless
If mine goes up 100 quid, I'll be telling them where to go to cheeky fuckers.

One of the (many) things SAFC have failed at over the last 20 years is taking enough money through the gate. We're miles behind similar sized/rival clubs in terms of our gate revenue despite our crowds being right up there for the most part and it is something that needs addressed.

I think a price freeze or even a small increase would be fair enough and I'd charge under 16s £150 (£6.50 per match) across the stadium. Gate money will be more crucial than ever next season and the fact is that we need to maximise it.
Settle down Martin. So you think putting kids season card prices up from £25 and £49, to £150 Is the way to go? A price increase across the board "fair enough"? I hope the club isn't thinking like that, as all that will do is piss everyone off even more. As it stands, i can get me and the bairn a season card for £375. Youre saying if it was up to you and what they should do, is charge me more like £550? They'd be losing 2 season card holders immediately.

I sit on the premier concourse and i've said it on here before, i don't see the point in closing it. I pay £500 for my season ticket, but i probably only get to 80% of games due to work. But i'm prepared to pay that for the view i get of the game, i can rock up on kick off, get a pint at half time without much hassle and have a chat with those around me, who i've got to know over the years.

If they close the concourse i'll still go when i can but i won't renew my sesson card. Talking to some around where i sit, a lot are of the same opinion.

Doesn't make sense

Need to make more money through the gate. "Selling" season tickets for £25 is a pointless exercise as by the time you take the VAT off you might as well just give them away. If people are saying £150, or £6.50 per game, which you can pay for over 4 instalments is too expensive then there is your problem right there. Lots of fans not prepard to pay the going rate that fans of other clubs do.

Irrelevant, even if they give me my ticket for a pound I'll not be renewing. Couldn't stand another season watching this absolute garbage...

It's far from pointless. My first game was kids for free in 1988. They've had thousands of pounds from me since. They need to be encouraging the kids to go and make it seem a "bargain". Bumping kids tickets up 600% isn't going to do that. The club has said themselves on numerous occasions, gate receipts are a drop in the ocean. Put the kids tickets up that much, I reckon less than 20% of parents would renew them and probably not bother themselves, even before your idea of putting their price up as well. Bump the price get even less to renew, freeze or drop the price and get more through the gate. Pretty basic common sense.

Firstly gate receipts are certainly not a drop in the ocean, especially when you're not in the Premier League. If fans are only happy to pay Non League prices don't whinge on when we finally have a Non League team to watch. The equivalent of £6.50 a game is more than fair to watch Championship, or God forbid, League One football and nothing you can say would make me think otherwise. The club is on its knees financially and needs to maximise all revenue streams.

Sorry but I'm done in, I have only been to 6 home games in a year, will just go to the odd one next season and try and go to grounds I have not been too..... safc have sucked the life out of me, to the extent of feeling sick !!!

Whichever way you put it though mate, asking fans to go from £375 for an adult and kids SC, to potentially £550, for an inferior team, league and product, isn't how things work and will make people not bother.

People won't bother anyway. Loads of fans have gone missing since last season and more will disappear from this season to next. Those who still carry on going can pay the going rate and I maintain £6.50 per match for a kid is more than fair regardless of the league we're in. £20 revenue for a season card after VAT won't pay the bills unfortunately.

You say that, but I know of a canny few parents who pay the £25 as it's cheap and if the bairn doesn't go to every game its still a bargain. Granted, that's more the younger kids like my 6 year old. Too young to stay up for midweek games etc, might not take tuem when it's freezing and such. Suppose we'll just totally disagree then, as the 25 quid SC offer imo, is probably one of the very few things the club has done right the last few years. Trying to get the younger generation hooked and actually goimg to games, that leads to footy strips and all other merchanise. I've paid £150 for eg, on home and away strips for my son this season. That doesn't happen if he isn't interested. Out of interest, do you take a child to the games?

I've had a ST since the SoL opened and currently take my two boys for £25 each. One of them has little interest in the match but the extra card means his brother (who is interested) can bring a mate along when he doesn't want to come...thus lads in the area who are quite interested but don't get taken to the match themselves get the opportunity to go from time to time and maybe get the bug themselves. If nothing else it's another backside on an empty pink seat. I agree wholeheartedly: it is one of the few things they've got right in the last few years, and if they stop that I expect it will be the end of our STs and those of many others in the family zone.

It could therefore be argued that the £25 scheme keeps me there paying full price.

You've totally hit the nail on the head there. The product is now so cheap and has been devalued so much it doesn't really matter if they turn up or not meanwhile the club still have to make provision for them in terms of hiring stewards and policing for the game.

I used to take the bairn with me but he's lost interest over the last few years and he doesn't bother anymore.

Havent been able to give tickets away on numerous occasions last few year.

If we go I can see regular gates under 20k.

The facts and numbers speak for themselves. We haven't pulled our weight against teams we've been competing against when it comes to money taken through the turnstiles. In the last few years because of the huge tv money thrown at clubs it wasn't so much of an issue but it certainly will be in the years ahead.
If you put the prices up we'll have less income!
