Looks to me like nothing legally binding was ever signed. He's just miffed at being gazumped. Heads of agreement is not the same as contract for sale. It's more like when you accept an offer for your house, and then all the searches, etc happen. Either side can do what they hell they like up until exchange of contracts.

Have you seen the paperwork like?

So what it reads.... Bloke says to club... I'll buy the club..... The owners say show us your funds... The prospective new owner stalls and stalls then can't come up with the full amount by the deadline set

Surely to God, no one can blame the owners for not selling to him
I don't know why I'm surprised that sooo many people would chose to believe the other side. Ok our owners have been a bit questionable at times but it's largely because they've too open with their dealings. This is yet another example why I want the new owner to work through a proxy and keep his cards close to his chest just to get people to wind their necks in.

Surely if there is a case to answer that would be with the parties with who this man was engaged when attempting to purchase the Club not the people who it was eventually sold to.

If I am selling my house and enter in to a contract to sell it to person "A" but then sell it to person "B" person "B" will still be the lawful owner of the property. Person "A"'s come back would be against me for not honouring the contract of sale. Person "B" had no contract with person "A" and has bought the house lawfully and in good faith i.e. my contractual liability to person "A" has nothing to do with him.

If there is a case to answer things don't look too good for Donald and Charlie and of course as the club has already been sold this American fella can't insist that it is now sold to him
