Sean Dyche - Vaccinate Footballers

The advisory group have already said they might look at vaccinating workforces that can not work from home such as police, teachers, supermarkets. Footballers can come in to that category presumably

I understand his argument, but I don't think it will go down too well with the majority of the population.

Footballers are already seen as 'priviliged' and jumping the queue would only enhance that view

Yesterday the news was a meat factory owner saying their workers should get preference and Sainsburys saying supermarker workers should get preference, pretty sure a couple of days before that it was public transport workers should get preference.
I get it, you all want preference. Tough shit. People likely to die from the virus get the vaccine first.
I don't think anyone is ever suggesting that the truly most vulnerable don't get it first.

There is a debate to be had after that though.

It’s not something I thought I would hear come from Dyche, Pep or Klopp maybe but not Dyche.

I think his main point is they are wasting money on testing that could be better spent in the NHS. Could vaccinate every professional footballer in one day probably and give a large chunk of money to the NHS to spend more wisely.

People who have to deal with lots of people are at risk. After the vulnerable we have front line care and emergency services. Footballers! In their normal age related place I would say.
No the front line health and social care workers are being done before some vulnerable groups not after

I get where hes coming from but on other hand why on earth do fit, healthy footballers need to be vaccinated. We had 14 players positive and they are all fit and playing football again within a few weeks.
Have any footballers been hospitalized? I dont think so. If we just let football crack on without this rigorous testing then i think it would be fine.
Some young lad in Germany or France was early doors I think.

Stop allowing them to keep hugging and slobbering over each other when they score and then shaking hands with the oppo at the end of the game would maybe be a step in the right direction?

Footballers are playing against other footballers though and they’re tested regular so it’s abit different to the likes of teachers, police officers who are coming into direct contact with members of the public.

Actors would have to take the place of a member of the general public though, sports teams have doctors who could give the vaccine, this of course only works if we are at maximum capacity in general public.
I am not sure, but I think football club doctors usually have NHS responsibilities too. I wasn't making the case for actors, just think the entitlement of footballers where they think everything revolves around them is not as cut and dried as they suppose.

Lower down the leagues I know there are a couple who are either GP's or similar but id be shocked if Manchester United or Chelseas team doctor is also a GP.

I agree on the footballer entitlement but with this situation I think the positives outweigh the negatives, if they only get them due to spare doses being available and have medical staff available then why not, they should have every premiership footballer sat down now and told if you fuck up again you get banned for 4 weeks and fined a huge amount otherwise there is no chance they can get the vaccine before anyone.

Hey I'm not saying I necessarily think footballers should be any sort of priority, but I can see the reasoning for Dyche.

He isn't saying they should get it for safety reasons necessarily, it is the testing you talk of which is why he is saying it. Save the cost of testing and give that money to the NHS instead.

If you start to allow people to pay for their vaccinations it’s just gonna cause a world of problems imo.

30 players per 100 teams= 3000 vaccinations .you'd get 10xs that many supporters around the country willing to give up their jabs to keep football going.
