Sean Dyche - Vaccinate Footballers

William Storey without the beard.
Saying you would like to buy something and then not showing you have the finances knocks you out of the game. Played a goofy game of poker, lost and now wants a share of the winning stakes.
This is a tough week to be an American ffs.

“Following discussions in the late summer, Matthew Pauls submitted an acceptable bid for the acquisition of Sunderland AFC, as have several other bidders before and since.

“He was subsequently advised that Proof of Funds would be the necessary next step before the bid was submitted to the EFL.

“For two months, that Proof of Funds document was not forthcoming, despite numerous requests.

“In the absence of that, but having promised to sell the club, the Board decided to proceed with another option, at a lower valuation but with strong proof of funds.

“Eventually, in mid-December Matthew Pauls sent a Proof of Funds document insufficient to cover the agreed purchase price, let alone the amount required by the EFL to fund the club going forward.

“The funds were also in the name not of Mr Pauls but of an unknown third party individual.

“At that point - despite the original offer theoretically being an attractive one for the vendors - it would have been irresponsible with regards to the club to persist in discussions with Mr Pauls when there was a solid, transparent, well-financed option on the table."

Never heard of him but if he's gone straight to suing SAFC it doesn't sound like he ever had SAFC's best interests at heart. Sounds like a chancer, looks like a wanker. Already hate him.
Shame he doesn’t have a mate on the board at the EFL so he can get around the proof of funds.

I think a club such as Sunderland is an easy target for absolute chancers like.

What are we worth right now? About £35 to £40 million (way too much IMO). What would we be worth if we got promoted to the Prem? At least £100 million surely? Lets say £120 - £150 million.

Imagine the amount of wealthy people (but not super wealthy) who would be considering gambling their fortune on us in the hope they can flip us after promotion to the Championship or then get some investment in and hold onto shares in the hope of a Prem promotion!

Then throw in the prestige of owning a football club - never mind the ego stroking you get as you pull up to the SOL in your Rolls and you own the place. And all you need to do is praise the fan base a bit and you'll have 10s of thousands of grown men creaming themselves over you - Your buying a lifestyle not just a club.

So it doesn't work out? Asset strip the club - the academy at this level is (or should be) off the chart so sell some young talent every now and then (Asoro, Maja, Mumba, Honeyman, Hume etc) Surely it can't be that hard to get SAFC turning a small profit at this level? We'd have the biggest attendances, be on TV the most (££££) biggest sponsorship deals. Milk some money out the club then sell it for no loss.

As far as I'm concerned the club is at it's lowest ebb and extremely venerable to absolute chancers. At a push the only buyer I would 100% trust with the club would be a actual loaded SAFC supporter - anyone else is in it for themselves. Take this KLD - I'm getting good vibes but he's not here to spunk his money into the club. It will be his first big business venture and he will want the club to be profitable and will be looking to have it ran properly, get it promoted and eventually move us on - (Nothing wrong with that of course but he will have no interest in the club winning trophies).

Donald and co are exactly the type of people we want no-where near the club and that was obvious from day 1.

In a way I see his point, they are taking up 1000s of testing kits a week for months and could easily pay the same amount or extra for the 2 shots of vaccine and free up more kits. On the other hand they are elite athletes, have the best methods in place and should be low down the list on the shot, the paying for a vaccine slot ahead of those in danger (oap, lung illness patients, nhs) would be a dangerous sign for future developments of the rich.

The advisory group have already said they might look at vaccinating workforces that can not work from home such as police, teachers, supermarkets. Footballers can come in to that category presumably

Footballers are not performing a public service though are they. They are kicking a ball around. Postpone all football until this is under control

The premier League and clubs are paying for testing not the NHS, if they were fast tracked, I doubt they'd give nothing to the NHS anyway.

On top of that, the behaviour of premier League players during the Pandemic has been shameful so they deserve to be last in the queue.
Would you change your view if the premier league transparently guaranteed to spend the same money they currently spend on testing on other charity / the NHS instread? Have Sean Dyche photographed in Burnley hospital with a cheque for £200lk? (I have no idea what the actual amount would be).

You could argue they are providing light relief and entertainment to a lot of people. Should they stop making television too?
What difference would it make? They're not getting properly ill with it anyway. The vaccination doesn't stop folk getting it, just stops them getting as ill.
Stop 'wasting' money on testing is the whole crux of his argument which a lot of people are missing, whether you agree with him or not
in reality footballers are probably working in the safest jobs going at the moment. I really can't see the point
The point is to stop spending money on tests and give that money to a more worth while cause.

It only has any merit at all because football is pretty much the only industry doing routine testing of the entire workforce.

People really should read what he said before forming an opinion. If you still disagree, as most will, then fine but at least see what he says man!

Pauls doesn't appear to have any links to the Pop Man . The Echo reported on him at the end of November as a prospective buyer without mentioning anything about Storey.
If Pauls had a connection to Storey you would think that as Pauls bid was made public in November Storey would have been shouting about it from the roof tops. In fact right up to December Storey was always very reluctant to say who his "backers" actually were and he still has never named them.

If it makes a difference in controlling this virus then yes. Would you rather all footballers and and television makers be in front of people who are making a difference and serving a purpose to the public. Rather than those in the entertainment business.

I get that, particular with regards to buying property but, isnt there a period of exclusivity when an NDA is in place? Or not necessarily?

Not necessarily. A period of exclusivity would normally trigger an NDA, but they (exclusivity periods) are usually of a determinate length, after which the sellers can talk to other parties. It's entirely possible that the NDA linked with the first bid could persist, and a new NDA enforced around any new bid, ie multiple NDAs in place.
