Players unable to play the short ball properly as have the protection of the helmet to save them.

I will never ever understand why a batsman turns his head. this is what leads to injuries - surely they know more than anyone the importance of keeping your eyes on the ball at all times.

You see batsmen now shy away and the first thing they do is turn their heads. i know it might be instinct but they are trained to see the ball better than most!

Feel for the bowler mind as i bet he felt shit afterwards

It's an instinctive human reaction, to protect the face.

This is the seventh time Will Pucovski has been concussed in five years.

Abbott was so cut up he continued to bowl short deliveries at the rest of the Victoria batsmen.

[paste:font size="3"] . Umpires shall consider intimidation to be the deliberate bowling of fast short pitched balls which by their length, height and direction are intended or likely to inflict physical injury on the Striker. The relative skill of the Striker shall also be taken into consideration.

I thought this rule didn't apply to Australian bowlers. At least based on the Ashes.

Can understand that but surely they should be practising against the short ball so they know what not to do! Their instinct to turn away is whats putting them at risk by presenting a part of the head not protected by the helmet.
