Seaham car park charging being introduced.

The pm is the head elected bod who's equivalent on the council earns £50k
The government's equivalent of council ceo earns about £400k
Some fella at Durham Council shouldn't be paid more than the PM (whole country). 200k+ is shocking and it's the same in the NHS, absolutely rotten. Fella at Sunderland NHS is paid around 270k absolutely mind blowing

Why is there this constant comparison with the PM. Putting aside the £300k a year worth of free rent for 2 mansions the PM also gets.
you're comparing the elected role which is effectively to liase with the public to the experts who actually implement stuff.

The PM runs the country and is paid less than the people running one council and one NHS. It's wrong hence why the public sector is on its arse. Big wigs bleeding the system.

The public sector is on its arse because the government keep giving your taxes to their mates to squirrel away into offshore bank accounts and trusts, never to be seen again. Also compounded by 14 years of austerity and low growth.

Give over man. His/Her head is on the chopping block when it comes to election time and accountability throughout the year. 150k is pitiful in comparison to what big wigs in the public sector are paid.

As I previously pointed out, the total remuneration package is a hell of a lot more than £150k. Then there's all the post office (that's post in after not mail to avoid confusion) money making opportunities they enjoy. It's not as simple as cherry picking basic pay.

Disagree. Plenty funding in the public sector. NHS jobs the other day some diversity manager at Manchester 50k a year ffs.

It will be for the fella who runs the NHS at Sunderland. I doubt he's getting the metro from Pallion to go to his meetings. Police Crime Commissioner at Durham spent 50k on a van for herself for example. It's rotten .

Even in the face of pretty strong evidence? There's a link to the full report in PDF down the page.

Of course it will for head of NHS. That's the point, you're mixing up very different roles (elected representatives & paid staff) to suit the argument. Kim McGuinness for example earns £87k as PCC. The cheif constable at Northumbria will be on about double that.

People will just park at the Lord Byron Centre and walk along.
Then that carpark will get busy and they'll have to introduce some sort of scheme there.
Then people will start parking in streets nearby, which means they'll have to bring in residents parking.
So people will park further away and the scheme will have to be extended.

All for a couple of quid gain by the council.
Exactly what will happen.

I'm on about top brass salaries. They're ridiculous and nothing will change my view on that.

Both overpaid.
Exactly what will happen.
Same at Crimdon, folk will just go to the Headland or just a little further down loads of access points with street parking to the beach

Firstly, you don’t need qualifications to run the country, hence why the PM gets less….Civil Servants do the hard work and they need qualifications to get a job. Secondly, as for the Public Sector being on its arse because of over paid CX staff, Sunderland Council’s annual revenue budget in 2011 was 550million, today it’s 250million. Try blaming the Tory Government cutting centralised funding, rather than CX staff. The only reason why Sunderland Council are prospering at the moment compared to others, is shrewd investment decisions made by so called big wigs. You pay for what you get.
