Problem for the shop is how to know if they're real or fakes. Especially when there's 2 x every note in Scotland as they have 2 different banks.Nowt wrong with Scottish notes. However as I discovered not so long ago, some places reserve the right to refuse the notes.
I'm not quite sure why considering they, that is to say all notes, aren't physically £5, but a promise to pay the bearer £5 from the bank.

Pound notes went out of circulation up here ages ago. Was a bit of a bummer after a night out and you empty your pockets on the side and think you hadn't spent much but then next morning realise it was all quid notes and you'd spent a fortune and went back to the bank for more cash£1 notes are sometimes thought to be £5 notes.
