Will we get our money back?

Never really got going, I think he'd have been worth a look after pre-season.... he didn't look fit when he signed. One excellent reverse pass to Giacca kick-started the greatest escape though.

Bit of an odd transfer this one like. He didn't even look as if he wanted to be on the pitch whenever he played and looked about as fit as me. He may have come good but there were no signs to suggest so bar one pass in the Man City game

Hope we can get our money back if he goes

We won't. Yet at another costly mistake.

I wonder whether all of the £2.9m was paid up front ? If not, then presumably the balance would remain with us.

I doubt we will ever know, but it is an amusing image to think of Short insisting :-
"Spread the payment over a couple of instalments ? No way, Jose (he's a Texan, you know), I like to pay as I go. Happy to let Villa and Liverpool pay on the never-never, though"

Obviously, it is unfortunate that, from a footballing point of view, it hasn't worked out. However, for those on here who are invariably more interested in balance sheets than team sheets the undoubted waste of money is the more concerning issue.

He was advised to take their lass out for a slap up meal to experience the city to its fullest....unfortunately they went to Mr Cod...she wasn't keen...and that was it.
FACT
Must have some canny chippys over there if she didn't like Mr Cod like.

So we spunked our January transfer budget on someone who was never going to be match fit before the last few games? And highlighted him as someone for the following season? And then sell him?

Heads should roll for this kind of shite

A big IF missing somewhere there fella.
Where is "A big IF" brewed ?

think it was a panic buy, we were lucky Wickham came good.

We should only bother buying South Americans who are already settled in Europe. Our record with them is so bad.

Angeleri seems to be doing alright in Spain now... and Da Silva's been starting over there too.

We did sign Julio who was class.

As for Scocco... he didn't look great, but he didn't look fully fit and didn't get much of a chance (we couldn't afford to). He may have come good, he might not have... better players than him have failed in England (Forlan, Veron, etc.)

Just looked like the manager wanted a forward we could afford who he was familiar with for the relegation battle. I know I raised my eyebrows a bit when Gus said he signed him to be a striker; with what I saw from our system and what I knew of how he used Ulloa at Brighton, he uses a battering ram type up top. I was willing to defend the whole thing on here a bit assuming he was our long term replacement for Borini on the left.

Scocco wasn't playing too much in Brazil. He got a signing on fee out of us, a chance to establish himself as a Premier League player and now he'll probably move on to Newell's, the club he loves. At least someone did well out of the whole thing.

He would have been 5th choice behind Sow, Wickham, Fletcher, Altidore next season, not sure where he would have fit into the team.
If we can recoup all the money we paid it's good business.

Why would it?

He was transferred to us by Internacional and (if the rumour is true) we have agreed to sell him to Newell's Old Boys.
