School Riots

Good to see the kids pushing back on these ridiculous rules and schools locking toilets till break time.

Imagine if your employer locked the toilets till official break/lunchtimes to increase productivity and reduce skiving.

My mates son goes to same school as my kid and the junior school wanted her to go to doctors to get a letter to allow him to go to toilet between breaks.

It's not just going to toilet for toilet stuff, young lasses on periods etc.

Totally degrading.

I’ve always said to my kids that nobody ever stops you going to the toilet, if you need it, you politely tell the teacher and excuse yourself.

It’s as basic a human right as it gets.
Yeh, me too. Its just common sense. My daughter only in juniors. Often when I pick her up she is like "can we go straight home I need toilet" and I do the usual why didn't you go ? and it was only allowed at breaks.

In secondary school I had a bladder problem, ended up having tests etc and for a couple of years dreaded school as even an hour was a long time to get through a lesson.

Do they lock the teachers toilets?
As ever with these situations, schools have to apply common sense but so too do parents when speaking to their children.
That's the point common sense, when I was at secondary school late 80s early 90s you just politely said/asked to go to toilet.

There was no school regulations/rules etc. If anyone misbehaved took the piss then it was just addressed like any other school issue

Got to be honest when I was at school you couldn’t go during lessons. People forget that for every few bairns that would go and come back there is one that will get up to mischief and if owt bad ends up happening the arsehole parents will be looking to blame anyone but their bairn.

Do you reckon teachers can just waltz out of the lessons they’re teaching to use them like? Teachers are expected to go before school, during break, lunch and after school. Also, teachers most likely aren’t vaping, graffitiing or causing bother whilst using the toilet.

Id bet my bottom dollar that there will be behavioural issues in these schools where particular kids are using them during lessons for nefarious purposes and the school have gone draconian. I bet good kids who very occasionally ask to use them have always been allowed to go and will be allowed to continue doing so (in fact I think one of the heads even says that in the article).

This never happened

Bingo.

The amount of kids skiving whilst they should be in lessons is mental, always the same ones. Suppose these then set the precedent for the kids that actually do need the bathrooms.

If a teacher needs to go or starts menstruating during a lesson I'm sure they don't just stay in the class and piss themselves. The doors are actually locked and the kids are not allowed to go, full stop unless have Dr's letters etc.
It's unbelievable that some people don't even believe that kids should have the basic ability to go to the toilet at school if they need it. Do they not realise that teenage girls have periods which do not follow break times. God help us. If there employer did the same they would be rightfully in uproar

Nail on head.

Mate you’re taking this very literally. Believe me if there’s any issues like that the bairn will be allowed to go to the toilet.

As people have already said. It’s the ones who skive, vape, vandalise etc that spoil it for the good ones. But teachers will obviously use professional judgement

Not having a go but these things snowball from articles like that (and people who don’t see the day to day) when the reality is much different.

But this is why parents and children are angry. There is no commonsense, schools are requesting doctors letters etc

Am I missing something here?

“Pupils are able to access all toilets before school, break times, and after school.”
“If a pupil requires access to the toilet during lesson time, they request a pass from their teacher and are allowed access.”

I’m fairly sure that was the case when I was in school.
