Sartori

With the takeover seemingly poised to be announced, I wonder what sartori's role is going to be? 12 months ago he was supposed to be coming on board with the finance to take us forward, but something seems to have changed and he rarely gets a mention these days.
I remember that first podcast, Juan this and Juan that..

Hopefully he stays on as our Head of South American operations. This will include such things as an extensive scouting network, a strong relationship with top Argentinian and Brazilian clubs, expansion into the developing Netflix markets there and bringing us Luis Suarez and Edinson Cavani on loan because our strikers couldn’t kick the f***ing bucket at the minute

I would imagine that he has more wealth than SD but is either not wealthy enough or no longer willing to put it in

Originally I thought he was meant to be the fire power for championship.

I think hes going to be gone when takeover occurs. I dont think SD and Charlie will be far behind to be honest.

20% of the club... Wonder how this works out

Certainly did like. One of the first things he said was about wanting to bring loads of Uruguayans over; I know quite a few have dual passports but in general you can't just bring a load of kids across from Uruguay, they'd never get work permits. Thought it was a strange thing to suggest, then nowt happened with it, he watched some games on a stream, went to Wembley, then decided he'd rather be President of Uruguay and largely buggered off. I like him to be fair, seems a character, but don't think he'll stay around
Exactly mate. Said this at the time.How was he going to do it. Would never get work permits

Post 15.

I was wondering if his involvement was part of the delay, ie: maybe he’s holding out for a better deal. He currently has a 20% share in the club(?) which is fairly significant.

Seems a decent, down to earth fella but he really hasn’t contributed much (unless he personally helped fund the Grigg deal as SD suggested that’s how he could help?).
He seems even more superfluous with the yanks coming on board.

Seemed strange how quickly he moved on though, went from wanting to be a part owner of a football club in England (seemingly a long term thing since he wasn't expected to spend much initially) to suddenly wanting to spend all his time trying to get into Uruguayan politics after a few months. No harm done like, just a bit mental

The sunderland effect :lol:

The bloke is (supposedly) a big fan of football so when someone comes along and offers you a slice of ownership in a premier league sized club that's in League One and is dirt cheap....he's going to be on it like a tramp on hot chips.

I think he enjoys being able to dip his toe and take a match in every now and then but it's also clear that we're nothing more than a bit of a hobby really.

This is a completely speculative guess but I suspect that the following is the case:

1) Juan was brought in to bring additional financial strength and backing to the club;

2) He genuinely likes football and got wrapped up in the whole ethos of “mixing with the fans”;

3) He has backed the club financially by underwriting part of the Grigg acquisition;

4) His focus on us was only intended to be “ad hoc” not to be around the club so much;

5) Potentially considered to be the long term future owner of the club when he was appointed to the board;

6) His focus is and was primarily on his other money making businesses and his entrance into politics;

7) The interest of the FPP three ( plus MD as a passive) will mean that they want control and not have the club partially owned by a Uruguayan billionaire that they cannot guarantee will not bring any unwanted potential publicity to the club or themselves at any time in the future. I am guessing that any due diligence into Sartori’s businesses would be limited and inconclusive. I would imagine that their purchase arrangements is all subject to Sartori exiting;

8) The purchase offer would then be conditional on SD buying back Juan’s shares and then selling a block of 75%+ to FPP and granting them control without Sartori’s involvement;

9) SD had to raise capital to buyout Sartori and clear any loans that he made to the club;

10) Sartori wanted his shares purchased at the full acquisition price plus an exit from the board package;

11) SD sold his insurance company interested to raise the capital in order to secure the acquisition;

12) The final transaction is all dependent on closing all of the above in addition to actually just completing Due Diligence, EFl Approval and finally share acquisition.

All of the above is pure speculation and guesswork. I have absolutely no knowledge of what is going on but it sort of makes sense if you attempt to join the dots.
I just don't think he has that much money. His in laws do. Not sure he does though. I expect he'll be bought out for a bit of profit. Job done for him.

He is a billionaire and very successful businessman in his own right.
Contributed less than Rodwell.

You do realise that many investors / directors do not have day to day roles don’t you?
At least Methven seems to do something, regardless of people's opinions on how well he does it. Sartori just seems to have dropped off the map.

Like I said earlier, being an investor / director doesn’t necessarily mean that you have a day to day job! Get used to it as I’m pretty sure that our new investors will not be prominent day to day.....
