I don't often use their services but trying to pay a cheque in at my
local branch today was a bridge to far. The member of staff said it may be possible by Monday. They might get a further visit soon but it won't be to pay a cheque in.

Can you not just do it through your internet banking? I’ve done it in the past through my banks app on my phone. Just need to take a photo of it and upload it to the app.

Sorry, what? It’s a Saturday, cheques historically have taken up to a week to clear, and you’re complaining that this won’t clear until the next banking day?

I got a refund in form of a cheque from an insurance company for not doing the mileage in the last year with my car. Cheques are still used, getting a refund off an insurance company was the shock all be it a pleasant and unexpected one.

Nah, never send cash in the post.
Plus they'll have to physically go to the bank and sort it

Had a credit card off them and it wasn possible pay the bill via the mobile app, always had to log on with the laptop to do it.

I think they need to step into 2021
