Same pattern for 3 years

Fair point really. The 2022 promotion the January window turned out to be huge but we haven’t nailed it since getting to this level.
Once we do, we will be ready for the next step, sometimes i kind of wonder, if the Owners actually want the club to get promoted, because that would mean it would cost the club more in wages and transfer fees, or are we going to have to wait until someone with a deep swimming pool of cash comes along, i am not claiming to be wrong or right, just what i generally wonder during transfer window, this january we were in touching distance, of the premier league and yet...

Doing good until January . Tail off after a lack of investment to freshen team
It's complete bollox.

This season we were in 4th place in January and we're in 4th place now.

Last season, yes, we collapsed with the management fiascos.

Season before, we finished the season much stronger by the end, sneaking into the playoffs in 6th place. We were between 8th and 10th in January. We improved!!

The pattern you're claiming to see ... just ... isn't ... there.

I don't see your point. Are you saying if we did invest in January we would not have gotten back into the automatics anyway, like we were earlier in the season?

I seem to recall a time when we were comfortably clear at the top of the table. The fact is our form has tailed off as the season has progressed, why? A number of reasons, but a big one is lack of squad depth, when our players get injured or tired the quality drops significantly because our bench is weak.

Our form since January has dropped off even more, it's irrelevant if we are still 4th, that just means the teams below us crap too.

Last season we started to fall away from October - hence sacking Mowbray after 2 wins from 9 in December.

Previous season we started January in 4th and finished 6th. But were never in contention for the top 2 and had a strong end to the season.

This season we've gone from 4th to 4th.

Agree we could/should have done more in the window. We also could/should have bought a striker in January 2023, although Ekwah was a big part of our end of season form and you could argue we finished in the play offs regardless.

Don’t lets the facts get in the way of good moan & the constant negativity form some.

Yesterday was absolutely shocking, but people really need to look at the wider context of our season and the progress made since league one.

We are still 4th because of the gap we built up, our form has clearly dropped since January. Last 5 games we are 13th in the form table, not good when our playoff rivals are top 5 in said table.

It takes some mental gymnastics to act like we aren't playing the worst football all season in this part of the season.

We were crying out for 3 or so established championship players in January to get back into the automatics like we were.

Sides that have ambitions to get promoted from this league invest in January.

This season Burnley signed 5 players, Sheff Utd signed 8. We signed 1.

The season before Ipswich signed 4 and Southampton signed 3.

We needed at least a fullback and a forward in January.

Whist a valid observation you make, it would have to preface KLD being that shortsighted as not not know the value added to his assest by gaining promotion.

Put more simply, is he that thick or hard up? To not see that this is a great opportunity to get promoted. By doing so KLD will buck the trend of having to spend 10s and 100s of millions to get to Premier league. We would lauded and be used as a beacon of light to show how to do it both sustaibly and with style.

Probkem is that doesnt make monies for the machine. Maybe that's the reason we are kept down and they don't want us to go up.

It's a Trumpian view of life. OP stated opinions as facts, when a little fact checking would have shown its utter bollocks.
