Scored the most goals he ever has in one season in the PL under Allardyce aside from 09-10, easy to guess he'd be fairly happy to play for him again.
That's one side of it.

The other side is that Sam was the one saying Defoe should be in the England squad and then doesn't call him up...

You were talking about spending 35m mate.

Yeah, I was suggesting that if £25m was raised from the sale of Kone and Defoe and something like £6m a year freed up in wages the club may just contemplate adding another £5-10m to the fees raised to allow a comprehensive overhaul of the team.

Defoe is one thing we have that others don't, he gives us a competitive edge. Whoever we play, whether it's Chelsea, or Hull, the managers team talk will be about keeping him quiet. There isn't a single reason in the world that justifies selling him.

Unless Defoe himself wants to leave ?

I didn't want to, but I find myself agreeing with everything you've said about improving the team overall.

God I hope they just let the football people make the decisions though.
And be lucky.

Can't imagine Sam would spend big money on either. Defoe doesn't fit his striker blueprint and unless he's got unlimited funds he wouldn't (IMO) spend big money on Kone who he probably knows isnt worth it. I do think he'll sign a centre back, but making sure they have protection and getting fulbacks in will be his priority IMO.
