I'd be tempted to let kone go for that price, looks to me like he's not interested and not putting the same effort in as last season!
mind that's depending on spending the money on some decent midfielders

Whichever route we go down we will likely face unpalatable sell decisions IF we want to re-jig the team. We disagree about Defoe as I could see a different line-up being more effective than totally relying on one player to score your goals.....we could keep him, do nothing in the transfer window then lose him to injury in the first week of February.

We could sell Pickford, Kone, Defoe and Khazri for £50m and spend wisely on replacements. All the replacements could get injured long term in their first two games - given our injury record this season that wouldn't necassarily be out of the question. I could see a different line up being more effective, we'd be great with Ibrahimovic, Kane and Vardy with Kante in midfield and a couple of Chelsea defenders but we won't or can't be making major changes so jettisoning your most successful goal outlet is madness. Get someone else in to help, that's the way to go.

I wouldn't sell Defoe on his own.....that would be absolutely pointless but in conjunction with Kone it could make sense. Defoe will be worth less every window where Pickford could conceivably be worth more every window. We couldn't give Khazri away currently.....he's f***ing useless this season.

Astronomical?........£18m for Kone and £6m for Defoe.....perfectly reasonable numbers those.
You were talking about spending 35m mate.

Changing again our CB partnership and selling our best striker since Philips is a recipe for relegation. We might just give up. I really hope Moyes has better ideas than you.

Its going to be interesting to see whether any of his usual cronies have distanced themselves from him. There could be one or two who want to avoid any scrutiny.
Reported to @Reiver for frivolous use of the word "interesting" ;)

PS its Fat Sam and I think he's looking git owld anarl. That's all

There's no point in selling Defoe. If there's £6m on the table in January it'll still be there in the summer. Kone is a different story. If someone triggers his buyout then we'd be able to replace for half the money and use the other half to improve the midfield.

We sold bent it got reinvested..badly but reinvested.
We sold gyan and henderson it was reinvested.
Tell us when we have sold anyone that the proceeds were trousered. Hard evidence not 3 drunk lads in a bar evidence.
Where in my comment did I say it would be pocketed or as you put it trousers?

I can't recall Bent being replaced? I remember Quinn's talking about it but I can't recall a replacement.

James Collins from West Ham ?
Attacks the ball well

Of course he has faults but like you say , midfield is where we need reinforcements

I'm sure Defoe can't wait to sign for the bloke who named Antonio ahead of him in his England squad.

The fat, corrupt bastard can fuck off.

Scored the most goals he ever has in one season in the PL under Allardyce aside from 09-10, easy to guess he'd be fairly happy to play for him again.

I really hope that Kone goes as he doesn't want to be here, and the only way I can see us staying up right now is for us to take the £18m, and invest in the squad - if Short will allow that.

Iirc he dropped Defoe when he first got here and only played him after he realised how shite the alternatives were
Also, this was at the time Allardyce had Danny Graham on the right and Toivonen in the middle and Steven Fletcher leading the line too, the daft wanker
