If this happened I expect short will get the biggest back lash EVER seen in my fifty years.

Ps. I was a Kone out after his poor start, of late he has been superb.
I don't want him to go either.

Worrying times my friends.

Hope it's all just paper talk. I expect Moyes would also go mental.

That's why Defoe should never be sold. The money someone would pay for him would be pointless as a replacement of similar quality couldn't be bought.

I would never forgive the club if we flogged him this season.

Given that I can't see us staying up with no spend in January given our list of long term injuries and the impact of the ACON, and the high earners will leave at discounted fees in the summer if we do go down we then have to contemplate how we can make the team better overall given our financial constraints.

I'd sell any player, including Kone and Defoe IF the manager thinks he can strengthen the team with the money. If it's done however there is no hiding place for Moyes should he fail to make the team better with his transfer business.

He said he wasn't going to manage for a while after leaving Bolton. Bowled up at Newcaslte week later, who then didn't have to pay compensation = more money for Sam Allardyce.
The bloke put himself in a position where he jeopardise his dream job because he thought there was a few quid in it. I've seen people defend him on here and even call him " naive". He is a greedy arrogant tosser.

Championship players are moving for ridiculous fees. There surely isn't a manager in the world who would sell a goal scorer either?

Unless it's £20m each then they can fuck off. I'd still be disappointed that we'd let Defoe go but I could understand it for stupid money. But anything less would be silly considering that he is the single best hope we have of survival.

Big Sam can fuck right off. Hasn't he caused enough damage to our club? f***ing wanker
What like saving us from what looked like relegation and leaving a stronger squad than what he was left?.
What a horrid man

There's always more things to consider from the inside of the club than what we as fans think. Defoe is 34 and taking up a huge chunk of wages. At some stage with him we will be in a position where no other club will match his wages never mind give us a big profit on him.....and the same goes for Kone and Pickford for different reasons. Those three players completely transform our FFP situation and give us almost unlimited scope to increase the wage bill. Let's say Kone and Defoe were sold for £25m.....not only do you have that to spend but it represents around £15m profit on player trading which is one the things that allow you to increase the wage bill over and above the £7m allowed under FFP. We have to accept that player trading (at a profit obviously) is the only way forward for us.

How it's spent is crucial though...a repeat of the summer would probably do for us.

I'd hope Short would realise or be told that selling Defoe would virtually guarantee relegation. At the beginning of the season, I wouldn't have been bothered about Kone going, but he now seems to be getting back to his form of last season, and striking up a good understanding with Papy.

The board will see ££££££ signs, I wouldn't put it past them selling them for less
We sold bent it got reinvested..badly but reinvested.
We sold gyan and henderson it was reinvested.
Tell us when we have sold anyone that the proceeds were trousered. Hard evidence not 3 drunk lads in a bar evidence.

Crazy to sell either of them at this stage of the season, regardless of how much is offered we won't be able to replace with the same quality.

Just in time for them to disappear off for the ACON anarl. O'Shea and Denayer in central defence. JOS cannot last more than 30 mins in a game without having to come off with a niggle these days…
