I think it's possible that they didn't really know what they wanted until they did a proper deep dive on a club's accounts, set out the five year plan, looked at the projections and ultimately decided that maybe it's better to sit on the sidelines and make hay than it is to have any risk? They've then identified or been put in touch with a couple of other clubs in similar circumstances.

Alternative is that they're interested in all 3 to varying degrees and are hedging their bets for one to eventually come good, but you'd think Southampton are at the apex of the curve and if they were going to take someone over, it'd be them.

It's Rodwell meeting him that makes me skeptical, having heard they are mates.

I could see JR calling him to say "this current offer is close and I'm going to be out on my arse, you better get up here and try to wreck it".....whether Storey intends to buy the club or not.

Meeting him off site, but the official line being he isn't going to buy the club keeps Rodwell's fingerprints off the situation of Storey interfering.

This board can be brutal on occasions, but we all stick together when life throws us a curve ball our way. I was amazed at the responses, also at how many posters have been in the same situation as your good self....

We all have our own way of dealing with the shit that comes our way buddy, it seems like the initial shock is diminishing but these things take time.

came in spouting off about transparency yet now he's shut his trap and nobody knows what's going on ffs. Needs to do another epicly boring six hour podcast interview where he lets his mouth run away and he spil!s the beans

Donald being Donald then. The man is that petulant he would rather fuck himself over along with everyone else because let's face it, he's paying 100% of the bills again now so he must be losing money at this point!

Hope you hear some good news for us all soon mate, we need it and it sounds like it could be very close if Donald dries his eyes and man's up!

Is the thing he's being arsey over something that can be resolved?

If so then maybe Storey is being used to hurry that along.

If not then more likely he's genuinely interested but SD wants the other group to call the deal off so he doesn't have to justify why he picked Storey over them.

What i got told was that Storey got wind of the stand off with the other group n just rocked like Where's Wally past couple days.

I worry, from what @rubberface is saying, that the next concrete development we’ll get is Mickey Gray returning to Twitter with a ‘well, I tried lads...’.

Got to assume he will have got wind of it from Rodwell. Hope he's just being used to apply pressure to MGs group and this isn't Rodwell trying to push Storey on the club so he doesn't lose his job.
