At the end of the day this was a preliminary round game and because of that the better Northern League sides had byes and with all due respect to Annfield Plain who play in the Wearside League and are no doubt excellent players by most peoples standards, they just could not get near our lads and it was one way traffic from the very start.

As the rounds progress, I would expect the oppo to be far more competitive, with the likes of Dunston UTS, Bishops, Shildon, Gateshead, South Shields, Darlington, Hartlepool United and Spennymoor having sides in. Having said that, its still possible we get another Wearside league side or a Northern Alliance side in the First round which would no doubt be another game like tonight.

This match report is bloody embarassing

Sunderland were bullish, dominant and hungry in all areas, not allowing Annfield Plain a yard, an inch or a second’s thought on the ball. Patience was also key for the Black Cats to not do anything sloppy, making sure each pass was perfectly crafted as they kept the visitors at arms left.

:lol::lol::lol:
Sounds like one of argus' reports from the echo in the 60's
