Wasnt one of our best left wingers of modern times right footer on the left?, it can work and swp needs a move down to if we really want him and if he wants to play football or run down his big deal at city.

In the modern game it's even more prevalent. People were pining for N'Zogbia and Johnson (me included) but they both play as many games, if not more on the right now. Everytime I've seen SWP recently it's been on the left.

TBF he has his doubters, but for 4 million we could have:

Seb GAP Gardner/Catts GAP Vaughan

SWP GAP Sess

Gyan

The Gap triplets had better be something special cos the rest of that team would struggle to compete on size alone in an under 15 league ;)

Sounds promising.

That agent sounds like a fairly honest/transparent type which is even more of a surprise

SWP would make a huge impact if he were to come like. Depends on how much of a cut he is willing to take for first team football I suppose.

He's not a left winger obviously but they appear to be extinct more or less. Which is odd as there are 20 teams in the PL and I think they all have left sides to their formations. But it's well documented that Bruce isn't convinced there is value to be found in a LM addition at the moment.

Yes, he was magic.

With SWP's pace it shouldn't matter which side of the pitch he's sprinting down. It's not like he's known for the quality of his final ball, but he can cause mayhem on his day.

We still had steed on our books who was reportedly on 50grand a week. Angeleri and ringo are closer to leaving so that could free up 100+grand a week wages.so before we got rid we couldnt afford nzogbias wage demands. Does it matter if they are small if they are good players? Rather have small players as we wont be booting it up route one football and actually trying to play it.

Yes if you have a whole team of them - didn`t you see the derby games last season, the phrase men against boys couldn't have been more apt.

Sooner take a gamble on Gradel tbh.
Same type of player.
Cheaper.
Younger.

I like the look of Gradel too but given we got Sess for 6 million and hardly ever pay over the odds for players we would probably get SWP for around that too I would have thought. In which case a small, unproven PL player doesn't look so cheap anymore at that price.

Still be pleased if we got him but knowing how tight we are with transfers these days (a good thing mind) he's far from cheap to us just now.

You're missing the importance of the "good players" bit. SWP is experienced for all that he is small. Likewise I don't expect Sess to roll over just cos he's 4 ft 7 in the derby, he's experienced and a fighter.

Too many people on this thread starstruck and can't see the wood for the trees. SWP is a spent force and is not the sort of player we need.

Sessagnon is virtually identical in style and younger ffs

I think Man City are a great team to buy from, lets face it they don't need the money so unlike certain teams (Spurs), they'll not piss us about on the money side of things.

Id say we have a decent sized defence with o'shea brown bramble turner. Gyan isnt small either. Elmo isnt. Not every player we have is a midget. And usually if a player is small it means they are quick which can cause alot more damage than height imo

Just been content sit back and watch the cash roll in IMO.

I'm underwhelmed by this one like.

Depends. Whether he comes or not will tell us all we need to know about his attitude, I think. Offer him relative peanuts and see if he really does want to play football again. He's got more money than you could spend in a lifetime, why not try to salvage a reputation?
