I be happy SD remain as chairman and big investors as owners to pumping millions in the club
I've got nothing but the utmost respect for the man. I just hope that he will hang around a while longer. There are loads of things that he didn't need to do, such as changing the seats, but he did and Him and Charlie have totally integrated the Club back into the community. Be very sad if he did one. :(

This puts to bed any romantic illusions that Donald and Methven are in it for love and appreciation of the club but rather as a commercial enterprise albeit a benevolent one. I suppose that when they inevitably move on it will be because we are in a much better place and for that reason they will have my appreciation, even if their motives are self-interest.

This. But we already knew that. They've never pretended to be Sunderland fans. I imagine they are more attached to the club now than they were but it's business. And that's fine. Quite possibly better in the long run actually.

Exactly, everyone knows they are huge Oxford fans but they have been brilliant while they have been here. So what if it's in their own self interest, surely we all do things that are going to benefit us in the long run. If they make a bit of cash out of it when they do sell us then good on them. At least they have made football for us enjoyable again.

Short not stupid. There will be something about any sale and monies owed I would imagine. Anyway all this just speculation. Hopefully if any truth just some wealthy investors looking to come on board for our Championship promotion push next season.
Thought maybe Short would of stipulated they didn't have sell on within two to three years.

Can't take away the fact that Ellis is a very shrewd businessman, mate, but how he let the club get into the state it was in, just Beggars belief so anything is possible;)

Methven's words:

“We’ve been clear that if someone offers a knockout price we would have to listen to that because as an investment group we’ve never made any secret of the fact that we’re not billionaires or Sunderland fans, so if someone came along with a serious offer we’d have to listen to that.

Since we made that clear various investors have put various backers in front of us and at least three or four credible ones but it was either not the right offer or not the right profile of person.

Stewart’s made it clear in the past that if he’s in the position where he’s not the best person to own the club, he won’t hang around like a bad smell. But we’re not at that stage yet.”

I think they wanna have some fun while making a few bob. Who doesn’t?

Wouldn't have thought so. It's a restrictive covenant, very similar to employment contract clauses stopping people going back and poaching their old company's clients.

What, stipulating you don't sell the club?

EDIT: I think I've misread the point.
