Short not stupid. There will be something about any sale and monies owed I would imagine. Anyway all this just speculation. Hopefully if any truth just some wealthy investors looking to come on board for our Championship promotion push next season.

Have we been promoted already! Please dont jinx it.

You don't think the club was on its last legs before he took it over?

If he sells the club already he has basically just made a quick profit on a distressed asset, and Short will be wondering why he paid off £100m of debt

Its probably bollocks though

Hopefully just looking for investment as I want them to stay

Not quite, but I understand your point. To say that would be to dismiss all the efforts since they took over. Regardless, seems it isn't the case anyway.

What if a bunch of Chinese billionaires made him a good offer and he liked what they had in mind? If it is in the best interests of the club he'd be right to sell. Donald can't see into the future and at the time he couldn't have expected to have interest in the club less than a year.

I wouldn't call it making a quick profit on a stressed business. I'd call it a good return on their investment and doing what was best for the club.

As for Short, that is how he made his billions. I reckon that's karma.

It’s Mr Lee of Witherwack fame
Used to love his Chicken Cashew Nut, marra

I thought that was why Juan Sartori was brought in. Has he been recently?

Methven's words:

“We’ve been clear that if someone offers a knockout price we would have to listen to that because as an investment group we’ve never made any secret of the fact that we’re not billionaires or Sunderland fans, so if someone came along with a serious offer we’d have to listen to that.

Since we made that clear various investors have put various backers in front of us and at least three or four credible ones but it was either not the right offer or not the right profile of person.

Stewart’s made it clear in the past that if he’s in the position where he’s not the best person to own the club, he won’t hang around like a bad smell. But we’re not at that stage yet.”

This puts to bed any romantic illusions that Donald and Methven are in it for love and appreciation of the club but rather as a commercial enterprise albeit a benevolent one. I suppose that when they inevitably move on it will be because we are in a much better place and for that reason they will have my appreciation, even if their motives are self-interest.
