Good news. I hope this is along with muntari and sess. 451 makes sense.

How does it? We played 4-5-1 up to the point of the Newcastle debacle, and then went tradional 4-4-2 and rocketed to 6th.

How would changing style again make sense?

Just what we need, another 'loyal' player.

Whilst loyalty now seems to be a relative concept, there has always been the sickening element that kissed the badge on Saturday and kissed goodbye on Monday.

It is best to measure loyalty in 'contract' years. This is similar to 'dog' years - four contract years are the equivalent of two calendar years.

After two years, clubs will seek to extend or get rid for a fee rather than allow an asset to depart for nothing at the end of the contracted period and players, knowing this, are happy to play along for the two years, declaring that XXFC are the pinacle of their career ambitions and that they love the fans. After two years, their 'love' is overtaken by a 'need to seek a new challenge'

Players are employees not fans, they are at a club for money. So long as fans see players as short term whores rather than long term wives, the relationship can be successful.

So it could be:

Henderson Cattermole Muntari
Sessegnon Gyan N'Zogbia

With plently of ways to switch players around, with options like Welbeck, Elmo and Steed on the bench.

Cattermole out of the squad? ALL RIGHT.

Gordon
Onuha Bramble Ferdinand Bardsley
Henderson Muntari Cattermole N'Zogbia
Sessegnon
Gyan

Imagining the flowing football this squad would produce, rustles my jimmies.

Wouldnt Muntari be more suited to playing off the front man and Sessegnon sitting alongside Catts?

I dont know much about the lad, but i always thought of Muntari as an attacking midfielder

Excellent post.

Plenty of support for Gyan and plenty of skill in the midfield. Cattermole in a flexible role. Hardman, retention and, when needed, in the defensive cm role (against strong attacking sides.)

Obviosly, with Richardson on the bench, we have plenty of pace to deploy when needed.

I would hardly call it a traditional 442. But realistically if you want to play 442 we need to buy 2 strikers. 451 with attacking midfields is the way to go. We still were doing very well playing 451 except against the mags but that result had nothingto do with the formation.

As in?

Gordon
Onuha Bramble Ferdinand Bardsley

Henderson Sessegnon Cattermole N'Zogbia

Muntari
Gyan

Central midfielder with attacking (and defenmsive) left midfield option

Chelsea away. 4-4-2 - traditional. No Bent. Result 3-0.

Splurt-o-rama!

Thats the one, with Wellbeck still to return. Mind we 3 players away from this yet. To sign 3 players in January would be nothing short of a miracle.

It's a big ask, maybe risky too. Bruce may well decide to wait until summer.

Still, great to see everyone so excited and over the Bent bombshell.

Gordon

Onuoha - Bramble - Mensah - Bardsley

Henderson - Sessegnon - Cattermole - N'Zogbia

Gyan - Welbeck

And we'll be fine...

Has everyone forgotten about Welbeck? All these predicted teams seem to just completely disregard one of our best players this season. If, and that's a huge if we signed all these players then surely Henderson is the one to miss out? Something like this:

Sessegnon Cattermole Muntari N'Zogbia

Welbeck

Gyan
