It used to be on one of the shirts available from Toffs, so I assumed it was based on some level of historical accuracy- but it isn't on their Web site anymore...looked like this one?

I'm at home now and flicking through some of my old souvenirs - the ship badge is on a Roker Review from November 4th 1972 - vs Aston Villa - a lot earlier than I remember.

That angular one was used in the 1973 Cup Final programme - so it must have had some sort of official status.

As said, they used it on letter heads but in the late 60's and early 70's they changed the logos and letterheads with regularity. I dont know why.

I think that in reality most of the logos were probably originally SAFCSA ones and the club latched onto them.
