SAFC annual accounts OUT NOW

Haven’t had a chance to read to deeply but some key info

- last season we made ~ 9 million profit on disposal of players
- we saw an increase in the amount we made on gate receipts and all other aspects of turnover
- we’ve got a ~ 6 million increase in wages and salaries

Although we made a loss, it’s not terrible and a lot of clubs in this division will be the same.

By the sounds of that statement we had an 8 million overdraft cleared too. Which is good for the club

Purchase of intangible assets at 7.5 million.

Which is transfer fees, agent levy and all the rest.

So we brought in 8 million ish last season and spent 7.5 of it.

Shows that we do in fact spend the transfer money.
Only an idiot doubts it.

We sold Stewart and brought in a few players.

Just as this season we sold Clarke and did the same.

We buy cheap and look to develop players to sell on. Obviously not all them will work out but they almost all cost money.

The report that you can download is near unreliable, I feel pissed trying to follow it.

No because these are accounts from 23-24

I read it as: as of 31 July 2024, we had an overdraft of £8.2m. That has "subsequently" been cleared.

So could well have been whatever deal we cut last week.

Bit of a mixed bag id say, but overall promising considering we could shift a Jobe/Rigg/Neil/Watson and pretty much cover our losses (assuming we dont then spend it).

A loss of £8.1m isnt that bad at all really. Bit worrying for other clubs who dont have 35000 ST holders bringing in revenue.

£8.2m overdraft as well. Bit too coincidental to me that the loss and overdraft figures are so close. Could suggest that our losses accumulate in the overdraft, and are being cleared at the end of each period.

A "working capital facility' is basically a loan. The club say from an "entity associated with the Louis-Dreyfus family". I take that with a pinch of salt given the 'misdirection' weve been sold by the club in the past. But again, suggests that young Kyril is basically covering the losses, by lending the club money.

How that works out down the line is anyones guess. He could be hoping to recuperate that plus pull a profit when he sells the club. Or if we go up, could just pay it off from the extra revenue. Or the club could be paying it off now, like a normal loan. Or maybe, worryingly, given the rumours last week or so, the club is taking loans out to pay off young Kyril.

But aye id say overall its promising. Just highlights how foolish it would be to spunk a ton of money gambling for promotion.

Little tricky to work out the sales and buys from the exact dates that form the 23/24 financial year. (01 August 2023 to 31 July 2024.) But it does make you think we're only about 1 sale from breaking even that year, and a year on, we have a lot more saleable players on the books.
Certainly heading in the right direction.

Will be interesting to see how this current year, ending 31 July 2025 works out with the £18m or so for the Clarke sale. And also if these things are booked in one lump, or spread over 3-4 years?
If so, there could be a time lag before we see real benefits.

I’d highly doubt he’s taking loans agains the club to pay back his own loan, I think those will just be rumoured

He’ll likely just take some profits out over time / if or when he sells the club
