I enjoyed Strauss and Trescothicks more, but they are two that are well known and probably already read. Warnes is decent. But I've just bumped a cricket book thread. "From outback to outfield" by Langer is what I've just finished. It's old, but it's the best I've read for a while.

An unbelievable batsman and doesnt get anywhere near the credit he deserves.

For the record sachin is the best ive seen but its not as clear cut as made out
 
Sanga is a class act no doubt.

Would be a toss up between sachin and ponting for me,
Ponting might have been a annoying little twat.

Interesting that all of the suggestions are 1990 onwards

Let's throw in Sobers (averaged 57), Gavaskar, Hutton, Richards, Richards etc

Averages are higher at the moment, 50 is the new 40

Don't want to bring him into everything, but this shows KP let himself down, may sound ridiculous given the runs and 100s he scored for England, but he had as much talent as some of the names you mentioned, but he just wasn't prepared to battle it out. "Just the way I play" attitude is nonsense, all these batsmen could play just as aggressively, but realised the team needed more. KP should of averaged above 50 with his ability
