Aye but at what level?

Remains to be seen, nothing we've seen so far suggests Wickham will score more goals than Noble. People are letting that fact we paid £8.1m for Wickham could their judgement.

and people are using it as a reason to slate him. He's a young lad making his way in the game. We need to forget about the transfer fee,its been paid and is history.

I know which one will score more goals in his career, it won't be Wickham.

Sorry mate but I disagree. If Noble does score more it will probably be at a lower level, being a 1 in 3 striker in league 1/2 isn't better than being 1 in 4 in the PL.

Guess it depends if Migs or Gordon is the one in goal ;)

By the same chalk, though, nothing we've seen so far suggests Noble will score more than Wickham either. They are both young players who have everything to prove.

Noble is more of a striker than CW will ever be.

What is that based on? If we had paid £8m for Noble your opinion would be the other way round. Wickham was performing at 16 in the championship, noble has admitted struggling in the championship at 20. Despite wickham being 2 years younger he has a lot more experience and a better track record, not just scoring against youth teams.

Of course it is still early days for Noble, but this is a crucial season. He will need a squad space after this season so it is up to him to prove he deserves taking up a slot.

I hope he takes his chance and make a push for the squad. f***ing imbeciles using noble to have a pop at wickham or vice versa is f***ing pathetic.

I'd love nowt more than for both of them 2 be a success with us, I reckon Wickham will be the better of the 2 however.

If both Wickham and Noble had come through our youth team and no transfer fees were involved, I guarantee 95% of people would say Noble has the better chance of making it.

People think because we paid big money for Wickham that he is suddenly going to turn into a great player, it doesn't work like that and the game is littered with players who were touted as the next best thing at 18 and went on to have poor careers. I hope both Wickham and Noble both go on to fulfil that potential but at this moment Wickham doesn't even look like a goalscorer, I'd rather have Noble on our bench next season than Wickham.

If Wickham had been loaned to the championship and still played the games he had then I fail to see how Noble would look the better talent. Forget the transfer fees, even if they both played for the mags. I'd still wage Wickham would have a more successful career

Noble needs to kick on now, he will want to prove he should be here and not out on loan again.

TBH I have not seen enough of either them playing to say who will make it and who will not.
We paid a highish price for the youngster Whickham, and as yet have not had any significant repayment from it. He really needs to play this season and start to come good perhaps as a sub?

I guess both managers SB and MoN have sen R Noble in training and are not convinced, there dos seem to be doubts about his strength and staina, but if iirc Denis Law was nowt but a slip of a lad. It may be Noble has that certain something in the box( no innuendo intended) whereas F Campbell is fast but he does not appear to be a finisher. It may be Noble will become a sort of super-sub an impact player to begin with at least.

So as forwards we just make 4 makeweights, Campbell, Ji, Whickam and Noble whereas what we need are 2 experienced strikers and a creative midfield player.

So imho 2 of the makeweights go out on loan/sell and keep the best two to work with the two new guys

Due to the fact one has had Championship games and impressed, scoring 9 goals one season, being his clubs young player of the season and the other hasn't despite being out on loan several times, then you would be wrong to assume that. One also has scored a Premiership goal and impressed in one or two games, but looked short in others. One also attracted interest from some decent clubs and played for England under 21, whilst the other has struggled to get games at all when out on loan. The one who has done more it also a few years younger.

Look I was impressed by Noble yesterday too, but in the context of the game he came on at the right time to do what he done and both players scored. To big Noble up on the basis of one game is silly, to knock Wickham (who I think is still very raw, but has some basics) because of Noble's form in one game is childish and f***ing stupid to the extreme. Yes we over paid for him and didn't need him at the time, but he's here now and we shouldn't blame him for Bruce's stupidity.
