Yes it was in a friendly but you can hope. Certainly he has pace and knows where the net is. Those are building blocks on which great strikers can emerge..without them they haven't a chance.

Given our current situation with strikers then even a small glimmer of hope shouldn't be pissed upon. Young strikers who score lots of goals don't always step up and make it. But they make it a hell of a lot more often than young strikers who don't score goals. There are rare players who dont really look very good but always score goals..Gerd Muller, Brian Clough, Darren Bent. Noble probably isn't one...but you never know. Worth withholding criticism until we find out.

He did the best job possible in the time he was on the pitch. For that he should be applauded and given more of a chance to do it regularly.

If he'd had that same chance against Arsenal in our first game, neither he Arsenal defence would have stopped him or the Arsenal keeper, whichever they have, would have stopped that shot yesterday.

Goal compared to Michael Owen vs Argentina......well Liverpool gave that 17 year old a chance to prove himself. Not saying he's Owen but could give the Lad a chance! Not like we got a great deal of choice right now (unless we sign Van Persie)

I'll be delighted if he can make it as a premier league player.

Put down the keyboard. It is obviously a dangerous weapon in your hands.

Ryan Noble is to much of an unknown talent to risk against big teams. Proven quality and experienced players are what is needed.

They both scored today, he is hardly on the verge of world player of the year.

Just shows what a thick kernt you are, I'm on about value for money sonny, a strikers value is all about how many goals you score, Noble has scored a lot more Than Wickham has in the same period of time at the club, there's just no getting through to some of the numb fuckers on here though eh!

Noble hasn't scored a competitive goal for us

Its time you forgot about Wickhams transfer fee, it had nowt to do with him.

The lad has shown a bit of promise and needs to build on it, get off his case you sad wanker.

Is he actually a Sunderland fan? his brother is a mag and he f***ing hates us.

He was playing in league one...

Here we go. After a promising ten minutes in a friendly a lad who's scored regularly for the youths and stiffs is being shuffled out wide by the SMB glitterati because he has pace, or the manager wont be able to accommodate him as a central striker. Modern football eh. ;)

Great hold up play and pass for Campbell's goal. Great run and strike for his own goal.

Promising stuff and I've always wanted him to be given a chance. The regular use of Ji as a sub has held Noble back. Bar his goal against Man City at home Ji has never looked like he could cut it in the top flight and he's had several opportunities.

You have to look at the bigger picture.

I think McClean would make a good central striker but no that's goes against all logic as he is a "winger"

Noble has never looked comfortable in the championship and had a mixed time in league 1. I really hope noble makes it but he is the same age as Ji and hopefully it's clicked for him.

Only time will tell, it's competitive games where he needs to step up.

Could just be a late developer. Kevin Phillips was playing non league football until he was 21/22. Fair enough he was banging them in at non league level but I reckon Noble would do that too. I'm not claiming he will become the next huge striker for us but give him a chance, 21 isn't pension age.
