You can only play against what's put infront of you and Noble created a move for one and scored a blinder himself - what did any of the others do?

If this is the one that gives him teh confidence to kick on and make a real career for himself - at Sunderland, then cracking for the lad. Only seen the highlights that someone kindly posted on another link - Noble's movement reminds me of Phillips. Very nice to see.

Exactly this.

It was good to see him bring direct and having a go at them.

He's absolutely rapid as well, I didn't realise he was so quick.

Erm, Campbell v Norwich at home does that ring any bells. Exactly the same reaction, 6 months down the line Campbell who. Lets not get carried away eh lads.

It's not today's goal that makes me think he has a chance - but his performance in a reserve game that was played in near gale force winds. He was the only player on the pitch who could get the ball under control instantly and consistently.

Hope he can progress and save us a fortune - would be nice to see

You can't comment. You weren't there

Was this the one MoN was at when he first took over? If so, he was clearly impressed with 1 player that night and it wasn't Noble.

Some goal that like. He has the instinct just doesnt see, to have the first touch.....Dare i say very much like Anthony Stokes!

What the hell are you on about?

Superb goal, and it looked like it meant a lot to him.

Hope the lad gets a good run in the friendly games.

Would be great to see us bring more of our own lads through.

It should mean a lot to him, the chance of playing at the SoL next season compared to playing for Hartlepool, I would have been excited too. but seriously, I'd like to see him do that in the PL before I go overboard.

Looks like MON was miffed when he scored as it will give him a dilemma.

I think he just didn't care about the result.

As for Noble, O'Neill was raving about him after the match and seemed more impressed with his all round play than he was for the goal and his involvement in the second goal.

Needs a full 90 minutes during pre-season now, with a strong team behind him.

"Ryan [Noble] was very, very positive. He made a big impact. He tried to get hold of it, he didn't give it away, he played a superb little ball through [for the equalizer], and then his goal was absolutely fantastic."

Very telling that MON noted his hold-up play before anything else. Big clue there about what he primarily looks for in a forward.
