Due to the fact one has had Championship games and impressed, scoring 9 goals one season, being his clubs young player of the season and the other hasn't despite being out on loan several times, then you would be wrong to assume that. One also has scored a Premiership goal and impressed in one or two games, but looked short in others. One also attracted interest from some decent clubs and played for England under 21, whilst the other has struggled to get games at all when out on loan. The one who has done more it also a few years younger.

Look I was impressed by Noble yesterday too, but in the context of the game he came on at the right time to do what he done and both players scored. To big Noble up on the basis of one game is silly, to knock Wickham (who I think is still very raw, but has some basics) because of Noble's form in one game is childish and f***ing stupid to the extreme. Yes we over paid for him and didn't need him at the time, but he's here now and we shouldn't blame him for Bruce's stupidity.

Listen to this guy, he knows what he's talking about.....well on this occasion anyway ;)

If both Wickham and Noble had come through our youth team and no transfer fees were involved, I guarantee 95% of people would say Noble has the better chance of making it.

So, given the following evidence...

Name: Striker A
Age: 21
Premier League appearances: 0 (5)
Premier League goals: 0
Championship appearances: 1(1)
Championship goals: 0
League 1 appearances: 9 (0)
League 1 goals: 2
International (u19) appearances: 6
International (u19) goals: 1

Name: Striker B
Age: 19
Premier League appearances: 5 (11)
Premier League goals: 1
Championship appearances: 33(32)
Championship goals: 14
International (u19/18/17/16) appearances: 24
International (u19/18/17/16) goals: 11

95% of people would say striker A has the best chance of making it?

Aye

Noble has suffered a few bad injuries has he not? I judge by what I see and at this moment Noble looks a far more likely player to score goals.

Regularly follow League one football?

No, I follow football involving games played by SAFC.

I think Wickham has done fairly well so far in pre-season but Noble done more in 13 minutes yesterday than Wickham has in 2 games. Let's see how they both get on in the rest of pre-season.

Wickham was our best player in the 1st game and scored a goal in the 2nd. How has Noble done more?

Wickham suffered a bad injury last season.

How much of Noble have you seen? Reserve level? Hartlepool?
The performance Wickham gave against Bolton last season was excellent, and he was very good against Villa at home, too.

The little I've seen of Noble he's looked canny - however, he's looked canny against far poorer opposition than Wickham's proven himself against.

I hope they both do well - it's not an either/or.

So you're basing all of this on two games in pre season...

What makes you think this?

Noble hasn't been getting games for a reason and it's not because he's had injuries.

So you're basing your entire assessment on 13 minutes of football in Korea?

Scored one and made one, more than Wickham, in far less minutes on the pitch.

Well that's that then, settled. Well done. Can you email MON and get the scouting job? You are clearly our very own super scout.

Well yes, it's been widely reported that 2 managers(Bruce and O'Neill) have had doubts about whether he can handle playing against physical centre halfs, it looks like he has bulked up over summer. Players do improve you know or are you like the rest on this forum who seem to take great delight in writing off players as soon as they hit 20 year old?

Wickham hasn't even been given that long, poor lad.

I know which one will score more goals in his career, it won't be Wickham.

I'd be ower the knot if Noble made it with us and scored goals, but right now, Wickham is the more equipped for the PL.

I've already said that I hope Wickham fulfils his potential but at this moment in time Noble is ahead of him, that isn't writing someone off.
