Ryan Noble

they coped with scott sinclair last week who is probably faster than noble.

Sinclair is a bit like Ashley Young, although he's quite pacey he doesn't try and get in behind defences and doesn't use his pace as well as he could.

Well he has shown MON that he wants it, so I guess its over to MON now and whatever he thinks is best is good enough for me. As long as the players on the pitch are putting in the effort like Noble clearly is, we won't go far wrong, need some heart, some bottle and energy. Rather than the slow starts we have seen, need momentum and continued momentum, and to take our chances when on top, thats where I think at the moment Noble could be key.

Some f***ing right knackers on here that sound like Steve Bruce. I assume everyone comming out with this bs about him needing to bulk up are still living in the 1950's.

Noble will lose the ball anytime he tries to hold it up and will be brushed off it anytime he has any contact with them. I think people think we can just boot the ball over the defenders and he'll run onto it and score, football doesn't work like that or otherwise Walcott would be top scorer.

It doesn't work in the way you suggest either.

Guess what, there are loads of centre forwards in the premier league who are nowhere near as strong as Chris Samba, he would be physically dominant over probably 90% of strikers.

But strength isn't close to being the most important attribute in football.

It takes all sorts, what matters is being good at the type of game you play.

He wouldn't be holding it up, he's not that type of striker. When Owen burst on the scene, do you think he was told to hold the ball up?

He'll be playing on their shoulder trying to break the offside trap but if a chance falls in the box he's likely to be in position to put it away. We have no other strikers capable of doing that at the moment.

I know. People get booked for anything these days, it's not like that lad wouldn't have enough protection.

That is why our tactics have to be better than that, and now I believe we have a manager with enough tactical nous to achieve this.

haway, i think noble deserves a chance but he will never ever be as good as michael owen. I know your comparing them in physicak stature but owen was a very gifted footballer who would have always made an impact regardless of his size.

noble will get a chance eventually and it will be up to him to take it, i reckon he'll be on the bench for the next few weeks.

just got back from the reserves, and noble scored 4,
mon was in the stand to watch anarl.
as were loads of scouts
and 2 of the futureheads.

im a regular reserves, would i play noble on saturday, not from the start, problem is i dont think he could play up front by himself at home when teams are sitting back.
but he could play up front away.

Noble deserves 20 - 30 minutes v Blackburn if we need a goal. I don't think he's quite ready to be pitched straight in. However...

Bruce gave him 2 minutes plus stoppage time v Fulham then dropped him from the bench for the Wigan game

Black gave him 5 minutes plus stoppage time against Wolves.

f***ing disgraceful treatment of the boy who's in the form of his life by a pair of clueless knackers

I genuinely despair at this attitude.

No the wonder we don't produce any skilful players, we tell them to get off the training pitch and into the gym.

A bit hard to be nimble and light on your feet when you're built like a tank.

Not really, you'll be lucky if he's 10 stone

It doesn't matter if Noble ends up a tenth of the player Owen was but at the moment we have no senior strikers who look to get in the box and score. Noble might not have fully filled out yet but he will provide something we are badly, badly lacking.

He needs beef on him otherwise he physically won't cope, also hasn't been playing against the best opposition..

This is the reason Waghorn didn't get his chance. There's a fine line between being rapid and just being pacey.

Waghorn went too far and bulked too much and lost the yard of pace he had, which got him the goals at reserve level. The goals stopped coming and he was shipped off on loan, eventually leading to him leaving the club imo, no doubting Noble is stick thin, but if this works for him, I can't see Samba catching him in a foot race over 20 yards chasing a long ball.

It's a case of needs must i'm afraid. And he is the ONLY in form striker we have at the club at any level.

No one is claiming he is going to be the next Michael Owen, but Owen is an obvious example to bring up in response to the neanderthal comments about 'bulking up'. A 17 year old weed took the premiership by storm, it's the obvious riposte to those claiming a striker needs to be built like Didier Drogba.

Michael Bridges is probably a more close to home example.

Bruce wasn't even putting him on the bench most games

waghorn is only a year older than noble now, speaks volumes about how crucial it is noble makes an impact soon.

We'll see I hope he starts and scores a hattrick but i can't see it, one bad game and everyone on here will have wrote him off as the next Michael Reddy.
