Re: Goal machine Noble

I'm sure being dropped for a kid who's hardly played competitive football will do wonders for Ji's confidence. Would be a great follow up to being dropped in for the Arsenal game Bruce told the world he would start.

So if it doesn't work out for Noble? His confidence gone. Ji's confidence shattered. Bendtner injured. But hey, at least it was a positive move.
Complete and utter bollocks.

Re: Goal machine Noble

Have to play him like. Form like that in the reserves cant be ignored or unrewarded

Re: Goal machine Noble

With the lack of confidence in both sides it could be a case of whoever scores first wins the game!

If bender is injured I'd give both Ji and Noble a go upfront and hopefully being at home and with a good positive crowd behind them it could give us the edge.

We have to beat Blackburn, If not we are probably fucked.

You're seriously clueless.

Take a step back and slowly read again what you have just posted.

For a young striker to wrack up 3 hatricks before Christmas in the reserves, and against 2 top quality opposition sides in Newcastle and Man U, is one heck of an achievement.

This kid has something special. Martin Oneil will see it. Its not another Waghorn. Ive seen this lad play a full 90 minutes 3 times this season and his awareness and running lines remind me of Darren Bent. He just knows where to be. Although he touches the ball far more times in 10 minutes than Bent does in an entire match...

The business is scoring goals and winning games. Not keeping a player who isn't doing the business happy by keep playing him. I'm sure his 25grand a week will keep him happy.

Players need a kick up the arse, else they think it's fine to play as they are. This is the Premiership, we ain't got time to fuck about holding players hands.

Wasn't that long some on here didn't want Welbeck playing for us, then Wickham wasn't good enough either (and would piss off our other players if we played them). You do the business you stay in the team, you don't then you risk a young'un taking your place. It's the best way to get the best out of your players and give the young'uns something to aim for.

Re: Goal machine Noble

I don't get what f***ing problem this forum collectively have with Ji Dong-Won. He was decent last game - his first start. He's looked ok earlier when coming off the bench. He looked good in pre-season. He's looked good for Korea. He has the same goal ratio for the reserves as Noble - 2 in 1 - as far as I'm aware. Not many had formed much of an opinion on him until 15 minutes into the Wolves game after which he all of a sudden was cancer and would never make it as a footballer.

The majority of the members here would perform worse than a dice when it comes to assessing footballers. Bunch of knee-jerking wankers.

Noble has proven nothing in competitve football. He's been injured and come back and put in strong performances. For the reserves. I would love him to be successful here. I would love him to be given more of a chance than pointless sub appearances in extra time. But I have a very hard time understanding why starting Noble alone up front would be a masterstroke, while playing Ji would be a disaster.

You talked about Ji being dropped for Noble. Is it impossible to play them together like?

Ji looks just as raw as Noble to me, who is in the form of his life.

Stop taking things personally, it's only worda typed on a screen and people have different opinions.

What's Ji proved in the Prem in comparison to Noble?

Difference is, one is full of goals and the other isn't.

GET THE LITTLE FUCKER IN MAN.

You go on about knee jerking yet you are dead set against Noble playing. You are doubting him before he has even been given a run out ffs.
Have a look at Ji's goalscoring record for Korea and see who he has scored against. I am not saying he wont come good but Noble is a different kind of player and we need a different option.

I like ji and think he will be a decent player but nobles form cannot go unrewarded. It could even be damaging for his development to be overlooked despite such tremendous form

Ji hasn't looked like scoring. As a striker if you are not scoring and another is then you give them a chance. Else what's the point of us having reserves?

Nobody wants Ji to fail, most on here were wanting him to be given a chance when Bruce kept playing 1 upfront for 87 minutes every game. But he has to start showing something to back up his inclusion in the starting lineup, and so far he hasn't done much at all. I'm sure everyone on here would love Ji to score for fun when he gets his chance, but if he isn't then he shouldn't get upset when we look elsewhere.

Just to be contrary for a second it should be noted that Ji scored a very healthy two goals in the only 90 minutes of reserve team football he's played. Perhaps he would have scored a similar total to Noble if he'd played the last four games.

Personally I'm happy either way. I suspect that with Bendtner injured it will be one up front so I'd hope to see one of Ji/Noble start with the other one getting a meaningful sub appearance. To me it probably makes sense for Ji to get the nod. He's better at holding the ball and will better allow us to get a foothold and build a platform in the game. There is a case to be answered about Nobles physicality - particularly when up on his own. Fatuous comparisons to players in their mid twenties are just that. Nevertheless he looks a real prospect. Considering our paucity of current options I'd happily see him line up on Sunday. I'd still rather ease him in, though, if given the opportunity. For his benefit and the clubs.

I actually dont see the point in us playing this way. A one man attack means that we need to get our midfield into support and have some players from the middle to have a goalscoring threat. Larsson is the only real goalscorer from our midfield.
Gardner has a bit of a rep for goals from midfield but he really only managed it in one season.
