I stand corrected then. All developments I wasn't aware of. I just know from personal experience that sea air defences were always one step behind, and it was twitchy bum time when the word incoming was mentioned.
it would always be a numbers game on attack vs defence

ie - could a mass attack from land based aviation overwhelm a CVBG defences

thats why the Soviets always planned to use an entire Backfire regiment (which is about 75 planes) each with 3 or more cruise missiles

thats a lot of shit for even a single US supercarrier to deal with

Large number of military transport planes on the way from Russia to Air fields around Ukraine according to Sky news. Would add some weight that Ukraine have lost the air fields etc. Horrendous this

Puerto Rico with a shed load of nukes aye, and you're telling me nothing could be done? What about Kennedy's blockade and threat of all out nuclear war, was he bluffing, don't you see the parallels now???
I'm saying nothing could have been done to stop the US from invading Cuba had they decided to go ahead with it

and no, still not seeing the parallels

Well once over football, politics used to to clog up the main board and there was no space left for anything else. Remember what this place used to be like? Iirc it took a major decision after careful consideration to get to where we are now. Keep it the way it is for me. It creates space.

It didnt really, it took Brexit and people getting fed up of bickering about that.

Time to get it back sorted now.

It’s scary cos once they capture Ukraine what’s to stop them from taking Belarus, Georgia, Estonia, Kazakhstan, Lithuania etc and for them to try and to forge a new Soviet Union

I can't remember the class of the Us desroyers but they are arguably up there with the Daring class for air cover
Aegis? However if you have 40 missiles it's the 41 enemy you have to worry about. At the moment we have one type 45 at sea and id bet it's not fully loaded.

The Ukrainians are now claiming they have taken it back. But there is also apparently some large flights of troops coming in. Russians taking a big risk flying effectively commercial sized not agile planes into the war zone this early. About 300 troops on each one so if the Ukrainian Army can down one or two that’s a big win

Surely they wouldn't fly those planes in, full of troops, unless they knew they would be able to land.

It seems that Vlad considers the Ukraine joining Nato to be a threat as that would put Nato on his doorstep. To counter this he has invaded the Ukraine which moves his border further west on to Nato's doorstep

What about Poland, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia? Aren’t they part of nato and already border Russia.

What makes Ukraine different?
