Russia invading Ukraine (NEWS/UPDATES)

What chemical weapons did Russia use in Syria? They were accused of using banned weapons and I am not disputing that they may have done so. What did we do in places like Fallujah in Iraq or Sirte in Libya. What were our tactics and what weapons were used?

Ukraine advertised that it was arming civilians. Could it be that this move has had an impact on Russian tactics? I am merely asking the question, not justifying the tactics.
I think Russia may have believed their own rhetoric that Ukrainians felt Russian and would potentially just roll over. Now they're being attacked from civilians, but hey, that's war for you.

Why would a country with a depleted air force go use its limited resources to attack Belarus instead of the invading Russians is off the scale in terms of absurdness. I would like to think this could somehow get through to the Belarussians and initiate an uprising there.
Any evidence gathered is likely to be used at a potential war crimes trial.

Tbh, I don't know why it's even being asked? I find it quite insulting. Merely by questioning that there is at least another side to all this, that there is context etc., it's interpreted that this implies I support civilians being killed in Ukraine.

What other side is there? Forget Russia’s perceived grievances or past wars, the simple nub of the matter is this:

Russia invaded a peaceful, non-threatening, functioning and democratic, neighbouring country and it was wrong of them to do so.

What other side are you claiming there is? That they didn’t invade? Or that it wasn’t wrong?

Watching Russia at UN & I am worried.

Talking about evidence of bio weapon factories in Ukraine backed by USA & saying some of it has been released.

I f***ing hope they aren't going to do something stupid.

Didn't the US deny the labs then a day or so later say actually they do? Trying to find a link now.

Biden: US and allies to deny 'most favored nation' status to Russia

Joe Biden has announced that the US was moving to revoke Russia’s “most favored nation status” in coordination with allies.

Revoking Russia’s permanent normal trade relations will “make it harder for Russia to business with the United States”. He said the US was “taking the first steps” to ban imports of Russian vodka, seafood and diamonds.

Biden thanked Pelosi for pushing the US to take this action, and for holding off on a measure in Congress until he “could line up all of our key allies.”

“Putin is the aggressor and Putin must pay a price,” he said.

He also detailed other economic sanctions the US has taken to destabilize the Russian economy and squeeze Putin and those around him.

Biden said the US and its allies were targeting an expanded list of Russian oligarchs, and ramping up efforts to capture their “ ill-begotten gains.”

“They support Putin. They steal from the Russian people and they seek to hide their money in our countries,” Biden said, emphasizing one of the most popular aspects of the west’s crackdown on Russia. “They’re part of that kleptocracy that exists in Moscow and they must share in the pain of these sanctions.”

In addition to seizing their “superyachts” and vacation homes, Biden said the US was also banning the export of luxury luxury goods to Russia, calling it the latest, but “not the last step we’re going to take.”

It is incredible that a representative at the UN is allowed to lie at such a forum. One of the permanent members with a veto or not, surely lying in this way warrants Russia being kicked out?

I'm pretty sure they are. Otherwise why distribute gas masks to their front line troops.

It's crazy. It was basically a threat.

Also said that they had been in the labs but all stuff had been irrevocably destroyed. Convenient.

Talking about migratory birds laced with viruses that had been allowed to fly over Europe.

I really think that we might see something very very nasty now.

Ukraine said it was arming some civilians after Russia invaded. Does that mean all civilians are legitimate targets, including children? I doubt if the majority of civilians are armed. Jesus give your head a shake man. Four million are expected to have left the country soon.
Why would I need to give my head a shake? If Ukraine advertises that the population are being issued arms to fight and Russia responds by targeting the population, what has that go to do with me?

Beggars belief that "most favoured nation status" wasn't the first thing cancelled. Surely there can't be any justification for importing Russian goods unless absolutely essential to safeguarding your own population, ie gas.
