Think putin doesn’t know his move at the moment Marra it’s madness.

Invading Ukraine is in theory easier than invading Poland NATO country now that’s where the escalation point which would lead to war in Belarus no doubt. Russia would need to also supply a great supply line for any future conflicts and battles very difficult they would also need to control the skies to link up the east once again very difficult.
He's clearly off his tits on power.

If he gets Ukraine that may be enough for him for now but that corridor to Kalingrad will be awfully tempting, perhaps not while Vlad is in power but possibly the next psycho

Of course no one can guarantee, but at times like this big decisions have to be made based on a balance of risk and reward. I am confident enough that the risk that Putin is not going to use nukes is very low to non-existent - but that’s just my view.

The mans a lunatic who’s living in the past. Don’t think anyone can know what he will or won’t do, he probably doesn’t know himself

Are there people close to him that'll take him out or stop him doing something stupid? I hope so but just don’t know

At present London is where the money is although I am sure it is only a matter of time before Frankfurt becomes a larger financial centre. The EU and USA are main western players in this, at present we are a bit player, prob why threats aimed at us.

Quite agree.
Not a hope in hell.

Make no mistake - the break up of the Soviet Union is Putin's Treaty Of Versailles - we should not underestimate his anger, and more importantly, his frustration and impotence to do anything meaningful to change it

He is a very, very dangerous, thin-skinned, narcissistic, paranoid megalomaniac

He is - at this point - more dangerous than Hitler was in 1938 because he has a nuclear arsenal

Our only hope is that the others involved in actually launching the missiles see sense
Yes he is off his head.
He will know that Nato would have him beaten in a week, if we go after him he will have no choice other than to press the button.

I don't know what you mean. Please elaborate.

By all means.

The implication of your reply to me is that you don’t want allied action against Russia, for fear that Russia may launch a nuclear weapon. The logical extension of that is surely that Putin would effectively have carte blanche to do almost anything anywhere - as an argument could least be made that allowing him to do [whatever it is], would be better than a nuclear exchange.

To put it another way - what sort of situation would need to develop, before “just in case” became a risk we should take?

For me it’s

“Your damned if you do and your damned if you don’t “

I can’t help but think that Putin is struggling so much to take over Ukraine that his appetite for further confrontation on other borders may be dissipating.
He will have enough on his hands IF his war on Ukraine is successful without trying his luck again.

Estonia being invaded would substantively change everything. Estonia is a NATO member.

So what? If the underlying ethical dilemma is that standing up to Putin directly would risk nuclear war, a piece of paper doesn’t alter the situation at all. The argument for not doing anything would be exactly the same as it is now.
