Hoping this snow fucks off sharpish. Set myself a target of 1000km for the year, closing in on it but wanted to sign off in style with a HM distance before having a break over christmas. Was aiming to do 16+ tomorrow but don’t fancy it on the ice.

Just for info Durham parkrun have posted on FB that tomorrow is at risk due to weather so if anyones planning on going there, check first.

Can't see many being on, although South Shields are hopefull.

My wife has just called off Whitley Bay.

I did a course check at dinnertime and it was like a skating rink

I'm waiting another hour or so then venturing out. Gives it max time for ice to melt. Gan slowly and you should be fine. I'm fat enough to bounce these days anyway

I managed a 16k this morning. Kept it slow at 6’04 per KM and it wasn’t too bad. A few sketchy bits but stayed on my feet throughout.

I've been out today. I waited till about 1 o'clock when the temperature was a balmy 1 degree. There were still a few icy patches though.

I'm back and about thawed out. 9 miles around Herrington and up through Barnes Park extension to penshaw and down home. Really slow, partly as back still aching but also going careful on icy paths. Hopefully weather is calm next week and can get more night runs in.

I think you might struggle going out on a night. It's supposed to be like this all week, far too risky imo.

Managed it a couple of years ago. See what it's like. I'm almost down to a fast walk. 9 mins per mile a year ago, now 10 to 10 and a half today. Hoping things improve as weather improves next year

Any recommendations for icy shoes?

Was injured most of last winter but definitely want to keep the mileage up, slipping all owa this morning though.

Treadmill for me tomorrow/next week. Having a charity place in the London marathon I'm paranoid about getting injured and letting everyone down.

I use trail trainers. Saucony peregrine.
