Did the Tyne Trail Ultra today, hard going as it rained virtually the whole time. Ran pretty much the entire thing with a lad from Beverley, top fella...got each other through it. 9 hrs 13 and joint 7th (although the gps tracking has me 22 seconds behind him, even though we ran in together!).

Delighted with that, was an amazing feeling at the finish.

Good luck to everyone doing the pier to pier today. Was cloudy first thing but has got a lot warmer so put some sun cream on.
I went out for a walk early on and had forgotten about it but there was a big crew packing goody bags about 7am.
Was good fun that race today, weather was nice and warm and the sun blazing, got a canny t shirt tan today

I ran my routine long slow 7.5 mile route today and felt like I had a lot more left in the tank, so I’m tempted to enter a half marathon for early autumn.

I have been running quite quickly over 1 to 3 miles but I enjoy the long slow off road plods a lot more. Maybe my body is more suited to it.

Set out to do 22 miles today, only managed 15. Clear that my mind and body hasn’t quite recovered from the bike ride yet, but glad I didn’t force myself to do the full 22 as I think it would have caused bigger problems.

I really struggle to run in the sun too over any sort of distance, praying it’s cloudy next week.

same, anything remotely warm or humid kills me. Ran in the drizzle last night and it’s so much easier

 That's pretty high mileage for the week before a marathon marra. Should be well into your taper by now.

How long is that run? ?That the one from Tyne source?

Pier to pier was a lovely run, vest tan! Getting more popular that run like. Well organised tho.

10k in 52:40 yesterday which I was pleased with. Way behind my PB of 51:38 from a few years ago, although I now feel like a much better runner as I was back then (if that makes sense??) Hoping to get back to under 52mins for 10k in preperation for a sub-2 hour half marathon which is my ultimate goal.

I'm hoping to add some interval training to my schedule as well, which I've never done before. Went out today without a real goal, just pottering around the running track to get used to consecutive days of exercise.

I'm thinking about joining the running club down here. I'm a bit nervous though, I'm fairly crap and don't want to feel out of place around any super runners.

If you run a 52 minute 10k your not crap and definitely won't be out of place in a running club.

You will probably be put in groups of similar speeds anyway.

I joined a club a few years back and it's the best thing I have done.

My 10k time has gone from 52 to 45 since joining, it also opens up other opportunities such as xcountry.

I am doing a bit fell running now, something I wouldnt have dreamed of doing

Cheers Murphy! That's good to know then. I suppose I won't know unless I give it a go.

You won’t feel out of place at all, there can only be 1 runner that is the fastest in every club, I’m sure the rest don’t feel out of place, there is a place for every runner no matter what there pace, size our age is, everyone is there to run and mostly enjoy running
