Looking for suggestions and recommendations.

My Nike running shoes are getting on and need replacing. The Nikes were fitted at a specialist sports store; obviously social distancing makes that impossible at the moment.

So I am wondering if anyone can suggest how I can sort this out over the phone or online.

Cheers.

Get a sheet of coloured card.

Wet the bottom of your feet and place both feet onto the card.

Take a photo and email it to the shop.

Nike make loads of models of running shoes for different gait, distances, cushioning vs energy return. Which model of Nikes do you currently have? Alternatively give this a try Brooks Running

I have just moved from Nike Zoom to Asics GT 2000, both great shoes but, the Asics are a whole shoe size bigger. I bought a couple of months ago and the specialist running shop told me that Nike are a always a much bigger for the same size shoe IIRC the technical term they used for Nike was "Boats".
Used the gt for a while they have normal and wide fit similar to the nimbus. I swapped to the nimbus as thev are recommended for plantar fasciitis of which I've had off and on the last few years

I have two pairs and would say normal sizing, i am normally 8-9, Nikes are 10s.

How far do you run? I had been for all the fittings and testing in so called running shops and purchased several expensive trainers designed to do this or that to the positioning of my feet. Turns out after all of that I have had most success and least injuries wearing £40 Adidas lite racers that I had origianally purchased just as a pottering about summer trainer.

I have had a similar experience. I am running in new balance 500 that I was using for the gym. There’s hardly any cushioning but they have been fine for sprinting, 1k reps and up to 4 miles.

I say it all the time. People focus on gadgets and gear all the time. Concentrate on training, form and diet. Structured trainers and insoles are for people with major problems. Look at the gear people in the 80s ran with. Get a decent pair of neutral trainers which feel comfortable for your foot.

Thanks for the info everyone. I've plumped for GT-1000 8 G-TX from Asics. I had a 5k run this morning and they are excellent. I hadn't realised how much my Nikes had lost grip and support until I tried the new shoes today.

Are there any offers on for asics please? I regularly check sportshoes.com and M&M.
