So injured batsmen worsen the injury or let the team and supporters down? mint
Exactly - Trott came out with a runner at Trent Bridge after he'd dislocated his shoulder while fielding. His was a genuine case when a runner should be allowed.
The ICC would be better off not allowing substitute fielders while someone nips of for a pee, shirt change or rub down after a bowling spell. There should be a minimum of 15 minutes before a fielder can be replaced ...... and England are one of the worst for this type of gamesmanship.
Leg injuries will be tougher than shoulder injuries when it comes to running!
Happy about it me
Correct and straightaway you are applying conditions as to when a runner is allowed and when he isn't.
I hadn't realised there was such a problem with runners, so why not leave things alone.
Like an earlier post says it can also add a comedy element to the game - but it's not something that is generally abused, unlike the substitute fielders wandering on and off.
You wouldn't be if SVOR was on 99 not out and he got run out because he was injured and couldn't complete a single to take him to his century![]()
I'm all for it.
As for YVOR on 99 - he'd just crash a 4.
