the whole point of a data led approach is that it should find players whose headline stats are underhwelming..because if the headline stats are amazing..they would be recognised by everyone and not be cheap
It's complete and utter bollocks.
Moneyball was over 20 years ago and hasn't been repeated. Certainly not in football

who said anything about moneyball? data is a lot of things and moneyball just one method
the brentford owner has however made clear that they dont focus on headline stats like number of goals and assists for an attacking player..its gone rather well for brentford this data lark...certainly better than the "spend some f***ing money"approach the safc mob howl for..

So if his stats are crap he would be good because he's cheap, if the stats are good he must be bad because he's good and must be expensive. I will manage without the stats, if that's ok. So, we are buying from the lower reaches of this league because players are cheaper, or from Scotland where they are just as cheap. Should be a good season. Why put in a new pitch for not very good players? I just do not buy this crap.

He's a decent player with good pedigree and could flourish in the right environment. He's played for CSKA in Europe and made a Nigeria squad who have an abundant array of attacking talent, and he's still only just turned 25. One to be pleased about if it happens, but there's a lot of competition.
