Rugby League/Football VAR comparison...

I've got Wigan v Castleford on the tele and there's just been a melee. Wasn't immediately clear what had occurred but Wigan had an issue with one Castleford player. Whilst the officials were calming things down, the incident was shown from several different angles on the big screens in the stadium. Castleford player had knee dropped a Wigan player on the deck who had already conceded the ball. Crowd goes berserk. Referee left with no option. Red card shown. The decision wasn't referred to anyone/anything. The ref seen what the crowd seen, heard the reaction and had to show red.

Football on the other hand refuse to show incidents to avoid that exact situation where the crowd effectively make the decision.

Not really sure if I would prefer the Rugby League trial by big screen or the football increase the officials until there's enough to make competent decisions attitude!
