Alright, I’ve had some drinks but the below came to me this afternoon, thought I’d share.

Ellis, it’s time to let bygones be bygones and get that useless prick Bain to pick up the phone. The Mackem Messiah needs to be brought home!

Pros

Available to start immediately.

Wages wouldn’t need to be big as he’s currently assistant manager.

Expectations are rock bottom, if we stay up he’ll have done a good job.

Has box office draw with the crowds, and any potential investors will know his name.

Played attacking football last time round in the championship.

Any footballer worth his salt knows him and admires him, has lots of friends and contacts still in football.

One of the most Driven people in football.

Takes no shit from anyone, from the tea lady up to the owner.

Cons
Never got involved with SAFC enough last time round, eg didn’t move his family up here, but I think he deserves a second chance.

Spent too much last time round, I’d trust him to have learned from this and his budget would be a lot tighter.

Summary
I’ve seen threads mentioning various names, Karanka is a current one.

I think he’d be just as much of a gamble as Keane given their track records.

As assistant manager of Villa, it’s fair to say his wage demands won’t be too massive, and I’d suggest offering a long term deal of 5 years at a minimum, and even if we go down another league, keep him in the job, as he needs to be a central part of the rebuilding strategy.
maybe he can get the best from lee barry catermole.

Runaway Roy as our very good friend @royal8er (R.I.P.) called him.

Keane brought the good times back to our club. Remember the town jumping, bars making a fortune before and after the matches, loads of Oirish guys throwing money around, however, he spat his dummy out and left us in the lurch when we were in a much better position than we are in now.
He couldn't handle us now.

‘As assistant manager of Villa’ - hasn’t been at Villa for years man

As much as I enjoyed the Keane era of 2 and a bit years. We were no world beaters and we were struggling under him in the premier league.

Short fucked him over and we ended up with Bruce. Id of love to have seen Keane get the players Bruce had but it wasnt to be.
But its in the past, Reid had the best years iv ever seen at Sunderland but he is another one I would not like to see return. He hit lucky with Phillips and Quinny but made some huge errors with transfers and we know the rest.
