Love to know how a League 1 team hiring a former manager (a recent one as well) who once get them promoted from the Championship to the Premier League and kept them up could be seen as a a step backwards.

Probably the same people who blame Quinny for what's gone on.

One of life's mysteries marra. It doesn't seem to matter that he was new to management or the fact that he got the club from the bottom of the championship and promoted as champions in his first season or the fact he got the team playing with pride, passion and a never say die spirit. It's all about how he spent money in the transfer market. Some will never be happy, no matter who is manager.

He was given a ton and the club have never fully recovered from a lot of his crap buys, whilst I dont fully blame Keane due to rebuild he is one of many who set this club up for a big fall.

Very big mistake by Short in letting Keane go, maybe he was given too much money early on as a novice manager but that wasn't necessarily Keane's fault. Short eventually pissed him off and he felt he had no choice but to go. We should have kept him at the club long term instead of going on a managerial roundabout ride.

Have you forgotten the reason Keane walked

We finished higher the after he left?
Apart from the financial shit we're in (Keane can't be blamed for Short and other managers mistakes) we're back in the same league position we were in before Roy Keane came to the club.

the club never really recovered from replacing Gyan, Welbeck and Bent with the likes of Connor Wickham and Ji-Don-Wong. Whilst Keane made mistakes i absolutely point the finger at the start of the decline was Bruces last window where distinctly average players were put on big contracts. Then what followed was some-what of an art form by replacing bad players with worse ones.

He's had two management jobs. One was a huge success, the other not so much.
But aye, "shite" mate.
Just an opinion but I don't think he personality lends itself well to management in the modern day.
That's probably why he has only been an assistant for the last 7 years.

The fact Short had to waste so much at the start thanks to Drumville and Keane put the club on the back foot and Added with Short's mistakes have us in our current position.

I know my opinion is irrelevant but I think Keane is absolutely shite at management.
Had a great first season before hitting a bad patch (all managers do) people forget what he lacked in managerial experience he made up for in other areas. Sure he didn't do so good at Ipswich but then with all due respect, the tractor boys aren't Sunderland. Everyone is entitled to their own opinion but for me that first season with Roy Keane in charge was absolutely magical. Aye he was "Shite" and i for one could live with that measurement of shite compared to what we have now.

I know he did well for you getting you promoted and that, I just think it's a different world now and his personality will not lend itself well to the modern day player. Didn't you players celebrate with a party when he resigned, he was really unpopular. The players couldn't stand him at Ipswich either from what I have heard. He was given the assistant manager of Ireland because it was felt while his personality didn't lend itself to the manager role he would do well in the give the players a kick up the arse when needed role.

If 'it's a different world now' means that footballers are now namby pamby soft fucks that have to be led by the hand instead of by the boot up the arse, then you're probably right.
