And the unlimited cheque book probably helped, you like him because he is a big character & raised the profile of the club, not because he's a good manager

He didn't spend much while in this league mind, what he did was get mates and players who played at the same clubs as him in (same as Moyes tried to do) but Keane got lads who could still do a job in that division. No doubt once we went up and he tried to push us on he failed, down to the fact the expensive players wouldn't give that extra 10% his mates would for him.

Just like to add that regardless of my love of Keane he wouldn't have got anything extra out of these cowards, I would go as far to suggest they would have cried off to the PFA when he got stuck into them for pissing about like fannies.

Wouldn't surprise me if Short's on the phone to Bain.
"Get me a manager who can win!"
At least Keane would make the last few games interesting.

Transfer spend in the promotion season was £25m, which, for context, was more than half the PL. Another £42m was spent the following season. In essence, the extra cash from being in the PL was spent getting there.

Really, thought it was under £10M tbh. You learn something new everyday I guess

That's the addition to intangibles in the 2006/07 accounts. To be fair to Keane, some of that was spent by Quinn, and, because the club's year end is July, it might also have some early signings from the July 2007 window.
